Itinerary
Day 1-2: Travel to Britain
Fly to England on Day 1. Meet your EF Tour Director as you arrive
in London on Day 2. During your EF walking tour, recall the city’s
Victorian past—evoked by Charles Dickens in the novel David
Copperfield. Stroll down the Strand (former address of John Donne),
visit Trafalgar Square and browse the shops of Covent Garden.
Day 3: London
A local guide shows you London’s literary and historical landmarks.
View an effigy of John Donne on your visit to St. Paul’s,
the cathedral where he served as dean. Before attending an evening
theater performance, you’ll tour the neighborhood where Dickens
lived while writing Oliver Twist and The Pickwick Papers.
Day 4: Warwick-Stratford
Journey through the English countryside to Warwick Castle, home
of Richard the Kingmaker. Continue on to Stratford and visit the
house where Shakespeare was born in 1564.
Day 5: Lake District
On your way to the beautiful Lake District, visit Chester, with
its impressive examples of Tudor architecture.
Day 6-7: Edinburgh
En route to Edinburgh, tour the Lake District’s glacial landscapes.
On Day 7, see a monument to author Sir Walter Scott during guided
sightseeing of the Scottish capital, and visit the hilltop Edinburgh
Castle. On our EF walking tour, stroll the Royal Mile and through
the Old Town. You will also pass the National Gallery of Scotland
and the High Kirk of St. Giles cathedral. Tonight, you might opt
to dine at our traditional Scottish Ceilidh, complete with bagpipes,
haggis and sword dancing.
Day 8-9: Hadrian's Wall
– York
En route to York, visit Abbotsford House, former home of Sir Walter
Scott, and Hadrian’s Wall. On Day 9, enjoy guided sightseeing
in York—visit York Minster and the York Castle Museum.
Day 10: Depart for home
Depart for home.
