Academic Scholarships | Departmental Scholarships Eastern offers scholarships each year to students who have achieved academic excellence in high school and while attending Eastern. Funds are made available for the scholarship programs by the Oklahoma Regents for Higher Education and by donors who support Eastern's scholarship program for academic excellence through the Eastern Oklahoma State College Development Foundation. Unless otherwise noted, applications should be submitted to the Scholarship Office not later than March 1.
Academic Scholarships PRESIDENTIAL LEADERSHIP – This scholarship pays for full room, half board and a portion of tuition. Applicants must meet the following criteria to be considered for this award: 3.60 GPA or an ACT Composite score of 23 or better (SAT equivalent), top ten percent of graduating class, substantial involvement in school or community activities. Presidential Leadership scholars are required to complete a community service component and must maintain a college GPA of 3.00 or better to retain the scholarship for the full four semesters. OTHER ACADEMIC – Students who have excelled academically in high school with at least a 3.00 grade point average may qualify for a tuition waiver. Academic scholarship recipients are also required to complete a community service component and must maintain a college GPA of 3.00 or better to retain the scholarship for the full four semesters.
Departmental Scholarships Agriculture | Athletic | Business | Science & Technology | Language Arts & Communications | Liberal Arts | Nursing & Science | Others AGRICULTURE DIVISION OTHA H. GRIMES - Judging teams and agriculture students majoring in agriculture, animal science, agriculture economics, agronomy, forestry, horticulture, and agriculture meat science are eligible. Freshmen or sophomore students demonstrating leadership ability, actively participating in school activities and maintaining a 2.50 or better GPA may apply to the Agriculture Division. LIVESTOCK - A scholarship has been provided for students who would like to participate in the Livestock Judging Team. Contact the Livestock Judging Coach.
ATHLETIC DEPARTMENT BASEBALL SCHOLARSHIP - Students who excel in baseball may apply by contacting the baseball coach. Amount of scholarship varies. BASKETBALL SCHOLARSHIP - Students who excel in basketball may apply by contacting the men's or women's basketball coach. Amount of scholarship varies. CHEERLEADING SCHOLARSHIP - Students who are members of the athletic cheerleading squad may apply for a room scholarship. Information may be obtained from the cheerleading sponsor. POM DANCE SCHOLARSHIP - Students who are members of the athletic Pom Dance squad may apply for a room scholarship. Information may be obtained from the cheerleading sponsor. SOFTBALL SCHOLARSHIP - Students who excel in softball may apply by contacting the softball coach. Amount of scholarship varies.
BUSINESS ADMINISTRATION/ACCOUNTING - Second semester freshmen majoring in business administration or accounting with a 3.00 or better GPA may apply for a scholarship to be used their sophomore year. Applicants must demonstrate leadership abilities and financial need. Recipient is chosen by the Business Administration Department. MARY BETH GUARD ANNUAL AWARD - The Southeastern Oklahoma Bankers Association has established an annual award in the amount of $500. Minimum qualifications for applicants: HS Senior or Freshman standing, must be majoring in Computer Information Systems. COMPUTER SCIENCE - A scholarship has been provided for students who excel in Computer Science and enrolled full-time. Contact the Chairperson of the Computer Science Division. ENTREPRENEURSHIP - Students majoring in Entrepreneurship may apply for a scholarship. Recipients are selected by a committee. Contact the Chairperson of the Entrepreneurship Division. ADMINISTRATIVE OFFICE TECHNOLOGY/ADMINISTRATIVE OFFICE TECHNOLOGY LEGAL OPTION - A scholarship has been provided for students who excel in Administrative Office Technology/Administrative Office Technology Legal Option and enrolled full time. Contact the Division Chairman of the Business Department. MARTHA GRANTHAM LEADERSHIP SCHOLARSHIP - An annual award scholarship in the amount of $400 has been established in honor of Martha Grantham. Minimum qualifications for applicants: Freshman Scholarship - Must be a high school senior and have declared business as a major, 2.50 or better grade point average, must join and be an active member of Eastern's Phi Beta Lambda chapter, demonstrate leadership abilities and financial need. Sophomore Scholarship - Must be pre-enrolled for the fall semester and have declared business as a major, 2.50 or better grade point average, must join and be an active member of Eastern's Phi Beta Lambda chapter, demonstrate leadership abilities and financial need.
SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY DIVISION SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY - Students majoring in Science and Technology or related fields may apply for a scholarship. Contact the Division Chairman of the Science and Technology Department. I.C. GUNNING - High school seniors majoring in engineering, science, science education or mathematics may apply for this scholarship. Amount of scholarship may vary depending on individual need. Contact the chairperson of the Science and Technology Division. INDUSTRIAL TECHNOLOGY - Students majoring in Industrial Technology or related fields may apply for a room scholarship. Contact the chairperson of the Science and Technology Division.
LANGUAGE ARTS AND COMMUNICATIONS DIVISION DEBATE - Students who excel in Debate may apply for a scholarship. Contact the Debate Coach. ENGLISH - A scholarship has been provided for students majoring in English and enrolled full-time. Contact the Language Arts and Communications Division. JOURNALISM - Students majoring in Journalism may apply for a scholarship to be awarded each semester. Contact the chairperson of the Journalism Division. SPEECH/THEATRE - Students who excel in speech or theatre may apply for a scholarship by auditioning. Contact the chairperson of the Speech and Drama Division. YEARBOOK - A scholarship has been provided for students who wish to participate in Yearbook activities. Contact the Yearbook sponsor.
INSTRUMENTAL OR VOCAL MUSIC - Students who excel in instrumental or vocal music may apply for a scholarship by auditioning. Contact the chairperson of the Music Department. HISTORY - A scholarship has been provided for students majoring in History and enrolled full-time. Contact the Liberal Arts Division. PSYCHOLOGY/SOCIOLOGY - A scholarship has been provided for students majoring in Psychology/Sociology and enrolled full-time. Contact the Liberal Arts Division. PHYSICAL EDUCATION AND INTRAMURAL - Students majoring in physical education may apply for a scholarship. Contact the Athletic Director.
NURSING AND SCIENCE DIVISION NURSING FACULTY - A scholarship has been provided for students who excel in Nursing. Contact the Director of Nursing. PUTERBAUGH (NURSING) - Students enrolled in nursing who demonstrate high academic qualifications and financial need may apply for a scholarship. Contact the Director of Nursing.
CAFETERIA SCHOLARSHIP FUND - The Cafeteria Department has established a scholarship for an incoming freshman or sophomore student enrolled full-time. Contact the Food Service Director. MAINTENANCE SCHOLARSHIP FUND - The Maintenance Department has established a scholarship for full-time freshman or sophomore students with a 2.50 GPA, must be a resident of Latimer, LeFlore, Haskell, Pushmataha, Choctaw, Pittsburg or McCurtain counties. Amount of scholarship may vary. May apply to the Scholarship Office or the Physical Plant. Application deadline is August 1 for the Fall semester and December 15 for the Spring semester.
