(Press Release 4-28-03)

Office of Public Information

Eastern Oklahoma State College Soils Judging Team competed in the National Association of Colleges and Teachers of Agriculture Judging Conference (NACTA) in Marfreesboro, TN, finishing as National Champions for the second straight year.

Eastern soil judging teams have a tradition in recent years of competing very well on the national stage and have brought several championships home to the Wilburton college.

This year’s team not only received first place team overall, but the five team members also took honors by having the top five soil judgers in the nation for the second straight year.

“I think that we are doing something special here when we are able to take the top 5 national individual honors and top team honors two years in a row with different students,” Soils Judging Coach Leland Walker said.

Team members include Lendy Warren from Ft. Towson who placed 5th High Individual in the nation; Ben Teel, Rock Creek, 4th High Individual; Keri Neal, Idabel, 3rd High Individual; Justin Bundy, Ada, 2nd High Individual and Michael Greuel, Muskogee as 1st High Individual in the Nation.
