M&M Monday High school students from across the state will descend upon Eastern Oklahoma State College Monday (Feb 24) for the Wilburton colleges sixth annual Mountaineer Monday. Designed as a visitation day for high school seniors to explore Easterns programs, activities, clubs and the campus before choosing a college, the special Monday has more than 150 students from 24 area schools slated to attend the all-day program. Leah Miller, director of admissions, said invitations were sent to high school students who expressed an interest when filling out profile cards for Eastern at career fairs. Posters and registration cards were also sent to area high school counselors. The day will include a variety of activities including an opportunity to visit with campus club representatives, academic areas, administrative offices, students and instructors. Miller says there are fun-stuff activities including a dance, a free lunch and a free Mountaineer Monday T-shirt. Current Eastern students will help host the high school seniors through the days activities and answer the inevitable questions the campus visitors will have. High school seniors will be able to see the campus up close and experience for themselves what Eastern has to offer, Miller said. We encourage the parents to be involved, she said. They are welcome to accompany their prospective student to Mountaineer Monday and have some of their questions about college answered as well. After lunch, students will attend an activity seminar in the ballroom where all campus areas will be represented. Students will have the opportunity to visit with academic and club sponsors to discuss student activities as well as scholarships, campus employment and financial aid, Miller said.
