Hank Mooney, Office of Public Information

Eastern Oklahoma State College will host the second interactive seminar open to the community on the ethics of biomedicine 6:30 p.m. Tuesday (October 14) in Baker Hall, room 112, on the Wilburton campus.

The 60-minute seminar entitled “The Ethical Frontiers of Biomedicine” will feature nationally recognized consultant Dr. Vicki Lachman.

Dr. Lachman is founder and director of V.L. Associates, a firm that provides consultation, training and coaching services to nursing officers and health care organizations. Her educational background includes Psychiatric Nursing, Bioethics and Organizational Development.

Dr. Lachman will address a number of ethical dilemmas that lie on the horizon of the burgeoning industry of biomedicine. Seminar attendees will be better equipped to make informal decisions about stem cell research, physician-assisted suicide and even human cloning.

The program, produced by Phi Theta Kappa and the National Collegiate Honors Council (NCHC), is the second installment of a five part series entitled Dimensions and Directions of Health: Choices in the Maze.

For additional information on the program contact Dr. Karen Harrison or Brenda Kennedy at 918.465.2361 ext. 311 or 283.
