Students Prepare for the World Premiere of THE MASSES Theatre Eastern students prepare for the world premiere of THE MASSES, an original drama written over 70 years ago, which will be performed at the Liberty Theatre in Hartshorne, Oct. 11, at 11 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. as part of "Hard Times Day." Eastern students, from left to right, playing coal miners and their wives are (front row): Lauren Helmke, Nashoba; Vanessa Miller, Haileyville; Mike Battiest, Idabel; (back row): Gus Palmer, Drumright; Christina Bentley, Muldrow; Ashley Wallis, Buffalo Valley; Timmy Clemmetsen, Atoka. The allegory was written by John L. Britten, a coal mine inspector, in 1932; it is a thrilling call for solidarity amongst the mine workers. Ticket price: two bits...just like the"good ol' days!" |
