Hurt
(Mason) and Britt (Bristow) Sign With Eastern Basketball
(Press Release 4-23-04) Bobb Johnston, Athletics Dept. Eastern Oklahoma State College signed two All-State players this week, Bryan Britt of Bristow and Jonathan Hurt of Mason. Bristow High School product Bryan Britt signed a national letter of intent to play basketball at Eastern Oklahoma State College in Wilburton. Eastern finished with a 22-9 record this past season before bowing out in the Regional semi-finals. Britt led Bristow to a 23-4 record and the 4-A area finals this past year while averaging 20.6 pts. per game. Coats, a 5’11” guard, also averaged 2.1 assists and 3 rebounds per game. “Eastern looks to be the best fit for me for my style of play,” said Britt. “I want to move on to a Division I program and playing at Eastern will help make that happen.” “Bryan is an exciting player to watch and we will follow his career at Eastern,” stated Chad Jones, Bristow High School basketball coach.

Coach; Chad Jones, Bristow High School Coach and Jimmy Voight, Eastern Men’s Head Coach. Hurt, a 6’3” shooting guard, averaged 24.4 ppg, 10.3 assists and 6.7 rebounds for State Runner-ups Mason. Mason went 97-27 during Jonathan’s high school career and 29-3 this past year. “Jonathan’s competiveness, he refuses to lose, has been our leadership on the floor,” stated Vernie Thomas, Mason High School coach. “Jonathan also has a 4.0 GPA and is the valedictorian of his senior class.” Hurt wants to major in education and coach. “Basketball is a way for me to further my goals, I love the game,” Hurt said.
