Caliber Pitching Pulls EOSC Softball To 6th Place Ranking
(Press Release 4-2-04) Hank Mooney, Office of Public Information Led by pitching phenomenon Sarah Seagraves, the Lady Mountaineer Softball squad has moved from a 13th pre-season national ranking to the 6th spot this week (3-31-04 poll).
Veteran Coach Andy Mace feels real good about his team’s chances to make it to the national tournament as they stride into the end of the season and head for playoff tournament action in Oklahoma City in early May. “This is the best team I’ve ever coached in any sport in my 38 years of coaching,” Mace said.
“She has more than 200 strikeouts
so far this season to lead the nation,” he added. “Her
average of 2.1 strikouts per inning tops the national rankings in
that category as well.” Mace also relies on good team chemistry
and some great hitting from his squad with 10 different team members
having home runs this season.
