Wilburton Main Street Sponsor "Starving Artist" Show
(Press Release 4-2-04) Hank Mooney, Office of Public Information Wilburton Main Street Fine art, fine food and a fine opportunity to support the Wilburton Main Street Facade Grant program can all be yours on Saturday afternoon, April 24th, in Wilburton. The Design Committee of Wilburton Main Street will sponsor the Second Annual “Starving Artist” Show, Sale and Auction on Saturday, April 24, 2004, in the Student Union Ballroom on the Eastern Oklahoma State College Wilburton campus. The show will open at 2:00 p.m., with the auction beginning at 4:00 p.m. Ruth Brelsford of the Latimer County Arts Council will be the auctioneer with hors d’oeuvres served while you browse. The talented artists come from all over eastern Oklahoma to show their work in this show. In lieu of an entrance fee, each artist donates one piece to the auction. All other works in the show are for sale at the artists’ discretion. The auction benefits the Facade Grant Program of the Design Committee. This program provides funds to Wilburton downtown merchants who wish to improve the facades of their buildings. “We have several more artists showing this year, and we’ve added photography,” stated Maryellen Mooney, Design Committee co-chairperson. “It promises to be a wonderful show, and an excellent opportunity to purchase a work of art for your home or office while contributing to a worthy cause.” Any artist who might be interested in entering can still do so by contacting Mike or Maryellen Mooney at 918.465.3110 or by e-mail at mikem@cwis.net. |
