Eastern OK State College Orientation Begins Sunday, August 15th

While classes at Eastern Oklahoma State College campuses in Wilburton and McAlester don’t officially begin until August 17, incoming freshman will get a taste of education beginning Sunday, August 15, during orientation classes that will begin with registration at 3 p.m. in the Claud C. Dunlap Field House.

Actually, dormitories officially open at noon that Sunday along with the Bookstore and Business Office. And, following registration, a general orientation and welcome will be in the field house.

At 4 p.m. the general session for all students and welcome begins in the field house.

A reception for parents will be held in the Student Union Ballroom with Eastern faculty and staff beginning at 4:30 p.m. Light refreshments will be served.

Incoming students will meet with orientation leaders from 4:30 until 5:30 p.m. followed by a free sandwich buffet in the West Cafeteria from 5:30 until 7:00 p.m. for the participants. From 7 until 10 p.m. there will be an Aggie Moviethon in the Student Union Ballroom followed by a freshman dance in Boonies in the Student Union from 10 p.m. until midnight.

Orientation begins again for freshman Monday, August 16, at 9 a.m. and continues with a full day of activities through 6 p.m. with a freshman cookout at Robbers Cave State Park including Putt Putt golf, paddle boats and other activities until 9 p.m. A shuttle will provide transportation from the Student Union for resident students who may not have transportation to Robbers Cave.

Regular classes begin Tuesday, August 17, with enrollment continuing until August 30 which is the last day to add classes for the fall semester.
