Brings Home National Awards
(Press Release 3-17-04) Hank Mooney, Office of Public Information The Eastern Oklahoma State College Phi Theta Kappa Chapter recently attended the Spring 2004 Regional Conference held in North Little Rock Arkansas. PTK is a scholastic honor society that recognizes and encourages scholarship among students in community and junior colleges. After the opening session on Friday evening Eastern's Theta Pi chapter co-hosted the nights 'Jammin with Friends' along with Carl Albert's Alpha Delta Nu Chapter. The event was a friendly and inspiring social venue for members and advisors to share their talents and thoughts. The 'Jammin with Friends' event was emceed by Eastern PTK's Public Relations officer Joshua Westmoreland. In addition to attending meetings and workshops the weekend ended with an Awards Presentation & Banquet. The Theta Pi Chapter received several awards. The awards included:
"The officer team and members put forth a remarkable effort this year and I would like to thank each one for their dedication and time," PTK Advisor Brenda Kennedy said. "It would not be possible to achieve the Five Star status without everyone working together volunteering numerous hours for the many service projects we hosted." Five Star is the ultimate goal of any Chapter. Five Star Level standards emphasize formal planning, special service and leadership to the college and community as well as participation in regional activities and awards programs. Caption info:
