Six Area Students Receive Clark & Wanda Bass Scholarship

More than 100 students at Eastern Oklahoma State College received near $60,000 in endowment scholarships through the Eastern Oklahoma State College Development Foundation Tuesday evening (4-26-05) at an awards assembly in the Student Union Ballroom on the Wilburton campus. Many of the students were those who had applied for the scholarships in early March and will be incoming freshman when classes begin next fall. Six scholarships were presented by Tom Lucas, center, from the Clark and Wanda Bass Endowed Scholarship.

Recipients included, from left, Myranda McGee from McAlester; Opal Mosley, Kiowa; Ashley Epperson, Savanna; Nathan Coulter, McAlester; Colt Sanders, McAlester and Kyle Leibfried, McAlester. McGee is a McAlester High School graduate where she was active in band, honor choir, show choir Spanish Club. She will be a sophomore at Eastern majoring in Pre-medicine. Mosley is a graduate of Kiowa High School where she was senior and junior class secretary, Spanish Club, Quiz bowl, National Honor Roll member, Who’s Who and on the Superintendent’s Honor Roll. She will be a freshman majoring in Science/Math. Epperson is a Savanna High School graduate where she was active in basketball, slow pitch softball, track and FCCLA. Coulter will be a sophomore majoring in General Studies and is a McAlester High School graduate where he was active in FFA, Spanish Club, DECA and baseball. Sanders will be a freshman at Eastern majoring in Law Enforcement and Administration. He is a graduate of Stuart High School where he was Valedictorian, named to Who’s Who, an All-American Scholar, National Honor Roll, varsity baseball and basketball, on the Academic team and a member of Fellowship of Christian Athletes and FFA. Leibfried will be a sophomore majoring in Pre-Medicine. He is a graduate of McAlester High School where he was a reporter for FFA, Spanish Club member and participated in Service Learning.
