Eastern PBL
Members Deliver Angels To Cancer Survivors
(Press Release 1-14-05) Hank Mooney, Office of Public Information Submitted Story & Photos Members of Eastern Oklahoma State College’s business club, Phi Beta Lambda brought smiles to many area cancer survivors recently, as they delivered holiday wishes and angel ornaments. Each angel had a card attached which read: “May this angel bring peace and happiness, and watch over and protect you during the coming year. Happy Holidays from Eastern Oklahoma State College’s Business Club, PBL.” “It was very moving to see the survivors’ reactions to our deliveries,” said Amber Cole, PBL’s Community Service Project chair and coordinator for the deliveries. “We tried to deliver to all on our list, but many were not home.” Eastern’s PBL chapter adopted the American Cancer Society’s Relay for Life as part of its community activities for the year. “The angel delivery was the committee’s idea,” explained PBL co–advisor Linda Morgan. “However, when the committee presented the idea to the club, it was overwhelming accepted.” “Students donated money to purchase the angels. The giving was truly from their hearts.” Future Business Leaders of America–Phi Beta Lambda, Inc., is a national student vocational education association that prepares students for careers in business and business education. Membership is more than 260,000 in 11,000 chapters across the United States and abroad. Future Business Leaders of America is the high school division; Phi Beta Lambda is the collegiate division.
