PBL "Pie
in the Face" Raises More Than $250 For American Cancer Society
(Press Release 4-04-05) Hank Mooney, Office of Public Information More than 20 Eastern Oklahoma State College faculty, staff and Student Senate officers took on a rainy March afternoon to allow pie tins filled with whipped cream to be thrown at them to raise money for the upcoming Relay for Life for the American Cancer Society. The second annual Pie in the Face event was sponsored by Eastern’s business club, Phi Beta Lambda. The event was planned by the club’s community service project committee. “It was great!” said PBL president and Community Service Project member Lindy Morgan, from Wilburton. “Everyone had a good time––the people who threw the pies and those who got them. It was all in good fun!” “This really was a community project,” said project chair Amber Cole, from Wilburton. We have completed several projects for the American Cancer Society this year. In October, we set up booths for Breast Cancer Awareness Month and in December, we delivered angel ornaments to area cancer survivors. In February, we set up booths for tobacco awareness. Now we are preparing for the Relay.” Club Co-sponsor Linda Morgan thanked the following for “standing in the line of fire”: Judy Betts, Harold Bogard, Les Brelsford, Ruth Brelsford, Chris Butler, Hillary Campagna, Cathy Cogburn, Brenton Duncan, Elizabeth Duncan, Glen Earley, Karen Harrison, Carli Lay, Deborah Layton, Sue Lovett, Regina Loyd, Lindy Morgan, Rudy O’Donley, Shara Olive, Bradley Rice, Russell Shaw, Margaret Sorrell, Buddy Standefur, Blaine Villines, Viki Vogt, and Leland Walker. She also thanked to Joe Coy, Roy’s Cardinal Foods and Jack Inman of McAlester’s Wal–Mart, for donating the supplies for the event.
