Named As Eastern Outstanding Graduates
(Press Release 5-16-05) Hank Mooney, Office of Public Information Daniel Vogt from Checota was presented the Outstanding Division Graduate Award from the Division of Social Science and Music by Chairperson Marilyn Duncan during commencement exercises Friday (May 6) on the Wilburton campus of Eastern Oklahoma State College. One graduate from each of the six divisions of the college is selected each year for the honor. During commencement, five other students were named as Outstanding Divisional Graduates including: Erik Harris, Language and Education; Cliffton Hill, Tushka, Business Division; Carolyn Wigington, Wilburton, Nursing; Jerrod Lundry, Haworth, Agriculture; Mandy Skimbo, Wilburton, Science and Mathematics. Vogt graduated in the top 10 percent of his class at Eastern and was a Presidential Scholar and recipient of an Eastern Music Scholarship. He performed in Eastern’s Sound Sensations and Concert Choir and in the musical productions of “Seven Brides for Seven Brothers and “Grease.” He was selected to Who’s Who Among American Junior College Students, Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society and was selected as the Outstanding Vocal Music Student. He plans to continue his education at East Central University, Ada, where he has been offered a full tuition-waiver scholarship.
