Eastern PBL Attends State
Leadership Conference Submitted story By PBL Reporter, Stephanie Stotts Seventeen members and advisors from Eastern Oklahoma State College’s chapter of Phi Beta Lambda attended the 2005 Oklahoma FBLA–PBL Fall Leadership Conference on October 29, at Eastern Oklahoma State College, McAlester Campus in McAlester, Oklahoma. Keynote speaker was Dick Alexander. Mr. Alexander is a technology speaker, trainer, and consulant working with organizations and individuals to establish and maintain a competitive advantage with technology. A business leader all his adult life, Dick has managed people, projects, sales, and customer service. He brings a 30–year business background and a vast resource network, to work on behalf of his clients. Members attended various breakout sessions including Officer/Member Training; Birth Order; Superhero Training; Spit it Out!; Preparing for Competitive Events; FBLA BAA and PBL CMAP Recognitions Programs; How Do I Handle This Situation?—Proper Etiquette; and Anatomy of a Leader. Workshop presenters included Lisa M. Smothers, FBLA–PBL National Membership Director; Linda Morgan, Oklahoma FBLA–PBL State Advisor; Estella Bennett–Mask, Eastern Oklahoma State College PBL Advisor; Jane Anderson, Certified Meeting Professional; Robin Mickel, Certified Meeting Professional; Brian Ferrell, State Officer Team Advisor; and Laura Morgan, Oklahoma PBL State Reporter. Attending from Eastern Oklahoma State College were Mandy Atkinson, Wilburton; Lizzie Cahill, Carrolton, TX; Amber Cole, Wilburton; Jayme Darragh, Hatfield, AR; Jessie Goodin, Eufaula; Hiroko Ito, Kawagoe Saitama, Japan; Phylicia Karch, Canadian; Krista Kendrick, Wilburton; Amanda Mayhew, Wilburton; Stephanie Stotts, Wilburton; Sharon Taylor, McAlester; Amanda Thomas, McAlester; Ognjen Vlaskalin, Serbia; Autumn Wolfe, Canadian, Co–Advisors Linda Morgan, Debbie Layton, and Estella Bennett–Mask. Future Business Leaders of America–Phi Beta Lambda, Inc., is a national student vocational education association that prepares students for careers in business and business education. Membership is over 260,000 in 11,000 chapters across the United States and abroad. Future Business Leaders of America is the high school division; Phi Beta–Lambda is the college division.
