Annual Concert
Slated For October 6
(Press Release 10-05-05) Hank Mooney, Office of Public Information The annual Eastern Music Department Fall Concert is slated to be held at 7:30 p.m.,Thursday, October 6th in Eastern’s Mitchell Auditorium on the Wilburton campus. Featured will be Eastern’s Band, Concert Choir and Sound Sensations as they present an hour-long concert. "We are pleased to announce that we will be having our annual Fall concert and as always the citizens of Wilburton and all surrounding communities are invited to come and join us for free," Music Department Chairperson Paul Enis said. Come and support our students as they present what they’ve worked so diligently to produce for you." The choral program will include Sing We and Chant It, from the Renaissance period, by Thomas Morley; Two Bach Chorales, from the Baroque period; The Heavens are Telling, from the Classical period, written by Franz Joseph Haydn; with the women of the choir singing The Swan, by Saint Saens of the Romantic era. Also included in the choral program will be a patriotic section, celebrating the country with The Pledge of Allegiance, The Battle Hymn of the Republic, Stars and Stripes Forever, honoring individuals of the Armed Forces and an arrangment of Taps, honoring those of the armed forces who have fallen in battle. The Sound Sensations will be performing an arrangement of America the beautiful, which includes a duet of Rebecca Hall and one of Eastern's recent graduates, Daniel Vogt; Flip, Flop, Fly, from the animated movie Chicken Run; and You Raise Me Up, top hit of 2003 made popular by Josh Groban. The Band will be performing Coast Guards March by K.L. King, Finlandia by Sibelius, Home on the Range, Malaguena, March from Raiders of the Lost Ark, Smooth, made popular by Santana, Winds of Sonora, Yesterday, made popular by the Beatles. Student participants are: Wesley Snead of Atoka; Marli Westbrook of Broken Bow; Daniel Vogt of Checotah; Justin Crook and Scott Hargrove of Crowder; Catlin Ahtone, Lacey Johnson, Laura Johnson, Seth Johnson and Jonathan Underwood of Hartshorne; April Robertson-Vogt of Heavener; Analeah Rothmire of Hennessey; Yuri Ichiba and Tsukasa Mochizuki of Japan; Rebecca Hall of Mannford; Julia Murphy and Joe Riddle of McAlester; Vanessa Tillery of Panola; Adam Hoag, Crystal Needham, Adam Rainwater, Nicole Smith, Stephany Stephens of Quinton; Ja Wong Goo of South Korea; Krista Brown of Talihina; with Veronica Allen, Mandy Atkinson, Brittney Beauchamp, Kyle Bristow, Ashley Holsten, Krista Kendrick, Kyle Littlejohn, Rebecca Miller; Autumn O’Hair, Mark Ward, Kyle Williams and Amanda Wingo-Ralls all of Wilburton The Choir and Sound Sensations are co-directed by Enis and Mary Ford, with Ford accompanying and Enis conducting. |
