Named To Who's Who In American Junior Colleges

The 2006 edition of WHO’S WHO
STUDENTS IN AMERICAN JUNIOR COLLEGES
will include the names of 47 students from Eastern Oklahoma State
College who have been selected as national outstanding campus
leaders.
Campus nominating committees and editors of the
annual directory have
included the names of these students based on their academic
achievement, service to the community, leadership in extracurricular
activities and potential for continued success.
They join an elite group of students chosen from more than 1,000
institutions of higher learning in all 50 states, the District
of
Columbia and several foreign nations.
Outstanding students have been honored in the annual directory
since
it was first published in 1934. Students named this year from
Eastern
Oklahoma State College are:

Akins, Deborah D. is a Business Administration
major from Holdenville with a 3.93 grade point average. She
is an active member in Phi Theta Kappa. She is a committee
member at the Spaulding Community Center. |

Bailey, Heather Dawn is a Psychology major from Gowen with
a 3.23 grade point average. She is a member of the Psycho Club
and the NAACP. |

Bethell, Charlie A. is a Math Education major from Wister
with a 3.97 grade point average. She is the Secretary/Treasurer
of the Phi Theta Kappa, the President of the Church of Christ
Student Center for 2004 through the 2006 semesters, a Criminal
Justice Club member and the Sophomore Representative for the
Honors Program. She is on the President’s and Dean’s
Honor Rolls, the National Dean’s Honor Roll and has received
a Presidential Scholarship and two Eastern Departmental Scholarships.
She is an active member of the Church of Christ, Toys for
Tots, Vote Smart, Project Graduation and Relay for Life. |

Bolding, Kimberley A. is a Nursing major from Stuart with
a 3.61 grade point average. She is a member of the Phi Theta
Kappa Chapter, the Class Officer/Secretary for the Sophomore
Nursing Class, and Valedictorian of the LPN Class. She is an
Intensive Care Unit nurse and the mother of three children. |

Boyd, Lesley A. is a Business Administration major from
Tulsa with a 3.72 grade point average. She is a member of Phi
Theta Kappa Chapter, a volunteer for the Little Mountaineers,
is on the Eastern Softball team and is All-Region Honorable
Mention for Softball. |

Butler, Laura is Journalism major from Whitefield with a
3.43 grade point average. She is a member of the Photography
Club, Co-Editor of the Eastern Statesman Newspaper, Editor
of the Mountaineer Yearbook, was Student Senate representative
for the Photo Club and was active in Drama. Laura has won the
1st Overall Newspaper at NSU Media Day, 2005; the 1st Overall
Yearbook at NSU Media Day, 2005; 2nd Overall Newspaper and
Yearbook at the OCPA, 2005; 1st in Yearbook Photo at NSU; 1st
Newspaper Feature Article at NSU; 1st Yearbook in Page Layout
at NSU; 1st in Critical Review at OIPA, 2004; and 1st in Newspaper
Feature at OIPA, 2004. |

Cecil, Henry L. is an Elementary Education major from Krebs
with a 3.25 grade point average. He is a member of the Photography
Club and the Spanish Club. He is active with the Eastern Statesman
and Yearbook publications. He is a tutor for Student Support
Services, a Library Aid and the Secretary for the Photo Club.
He is on the Dean’s Honor Roll and National Honor Roll.
He won 1st place in the State of Arkansas at VICA Competition
in Technical Computer Applications, State Vice-President of
VICA, AR., and was the National Honor Society recipient of
Vo-Technical schools. |

Cole, Amber M. is an Administration Business major from
Wilburton with a 3.74 grade point average. She is a member
of the Phi Beta Lambda Chapter and has competed in PBL competitions.
She has won 1st in State Community Service, 4th in State Business
Law, 5th in State in Micro Soft Word, has the Gold and Silver
Member Award and is on the Dean’s Honor Roll. She is
work-study for Kay Langham. |

Crook, Justin L. is a Music major from Crowder with a 2.88
grade point average. He is a member of the Baptist Collegiate
Ministries and is involved with vocal music, band music, the
Sound Sensations and the Spring Musical “Grease”.
He is on the Dean’s Honor Roll. He is a music leader
for the Bethel Baptist Church and the Baptist Collegiate Ministries,
a KBA Church Camp Leader, does summer mission work with the
National Freewill Baptist Convention and Oklahoma’s Ambassador
of Music for the Summer of 2005 Europe trip. |

Day, Brittney L. is a General Studies major from Inola with
a 4.00 grade point average. She is an Eastern softball player. |

Deela, Cynthia L. is an Administrative Office Technology
major from Wilburton with a 3.82 grade point average. She is
a member of the Phi Theta Kappa Chapter. She attended Platt
College with High Honors and is a volunteer for the Little
Diggers Cheerleaders and Soccer Team. |

Gadberry, Zack A. is an Animal Science/Pre Veterinarian
major from Stringtown with a 3.28 grade point average. He is
a member of the Aggie Club, Student Senate President and the
Baptist Collegiate Ministry. His activities include soils and
intramurals. He was National Champion of the Soils Team, 2nd
in the Nation Champion of Soils Judging, 8th Overall Intercollegiate
Judging Contest, 9th place in Intercollegiate Forestry Contest,
8th place in Intercollegiate Crops Contest, 2nd place Intercollegiate
Soils Contest and National FFA Degree in 2005. He volunteered
for summer work at the Boy’s Ranch Town in Edmond, is
the Ranch Manager for Booth Environmental and was the audio/video
technologist for Stringtown’s FBL Garvin, Brandon K.
is a Pre-Medicine major from McAlester with a 3.84 grade point
average. He was on the National Dean’s List for two years
and the President’s and Dean’s Honor Roll at Eastern.
He is the manager at Blockbuster Video in McAlester. |

Garvin, Heather D. is a Psychology major from Wilburton
with a 3.84 grade point average. She is a member of the Phi
Theta Kappa Chapter. She is the mother of three school-age
children, an LPN with preference in Pediatrics, a Reserve Deputy
Sheriff for Latimer County, a business partner with Jeff’s
Trucking Company and a children’s rights activist. |

Gerloff, Chance R. is a General Studies major from Freedom
with a 3.80 grade point average. He is on the Eastern baseball
team. He has won All-State and All-Conference in baseball competitions.
He works with the family on their ranch. |

Hartness, Stacey L. is a Theatre major from Kiowa with a
2.88 grade point average. She is the President of the Photography
Club and Secretary of the Characters Club. She is active with
the Eastern Statesman, the Mountaineer Yearbook and the Drama
productions. She has the Outstanding Freshman Acting Award,
was the Stage Manager for the plays “Grease” and “The
Quilters”, the House Manager for the play “The
Music Lesson”, the lead actress in “Snow White
and the Seven Dwarfs of the Black Forest”. She is active
in community service activities: church youth department and
college and career classes. She visits with the residents of
nursing homes and has taught children’s acting for the
Children’s Theatre Workshop at Eastern. |

with a 2.96 grade point average. She is active with the FFA
and enjoys taking care of her little girl and feeding her animals. |

Jones, Carly Dawn is a Theatre major from Talihina with
a 3.31 grade point average. She is the Student Senate Parliamentarian,
the Spanish Club President, the Characters Club Vice-President
and a Student Senate Representative for the Photography Club.
She has received the St. Genesus Award. |

Johnston, Klent G. is a Psychology major from McAlester
with a 3.94 grade point average. He is a member of the Phi
Theta Kappa Chapter, the Psychology Club and a tutor for Student
Support Services. He has received the Dr. E. T. Dunlap Scholarship
and is on the Presidential and the Dean’s Honor Rolls.
He enjoys attending his stepsons 9th grade football games and
is an avid outdoorsman, as hunting and fishing are two of his
passions. |

Johnston, Staci R. is a Psychology major from McAlester
with a 3.29 grade point average. She is a member of the Psychology
Club and tutors for the Student Supports Services. She has
received the Chickasaw Indian Nation grant scholarship and
is on the Dean’s Honor Roll. She enjoys attending her
son’s 9th grade football practices and games, camping
with her family, playing games with her son and three step-children
and bass fishing and bow hunting with her husband. |

Karch, Phylicia L. is a Business Administration major from
Canadian with a 3.91 grade point average. She is a Student
Senate Officer for the Phi Theta Kappa Chapter and the Vice-President
for the Phi Beta Lambda Chapter, the Secretary for the Honors
Program and a member of the Baptist Collegiate Ministries.
She is on the National Honors Society Roll, President’s
and Dean’s Honor Rolls, she has received the Flo Hoosier
Scholarship, Canadian Valley Telephone Company Scholarship
and the Darrel James Memorial Scholarship. Her activities include
Vote Smart, College Students Sunday School class, volunteering
for the Lion’s Club Health Screening and the Breast Cancer
Awareness Program and is a member of the Church Drama Team. |

Keeling, Gary Wayne is an Agriculture Education major from
Ft. Towson with a 3.06 grade point average. He is a member
of the Aggie Club and NASA. He is active in intramurals at
Eastern and served as a Student Senate Representative. He has
won the American FFA degree and is on the Dean’s Honor
Roll. He enjoys his lawn mowing service, being a work study
at Eastern and working on the family farm. |

Lee, Patrick M. is a Meat Science major from Tuttle with
a 3.74 grade point average. He is a member of the Aggie Club
and the Phi Theta Kappa. He is active in the Meats Judging
Team and has placed 13th High Individual at the National FFA
Meat Judging Contest, 7th High Individual at the National Western
Meats Judging, 12th High Individual at the Southwestern Meats
Judging and is on the Dean’s Honor Roll. He enjoys taking
care of the family farm and meat cutting at different places. |

Marlow, Robin D. is an Administration Office Technology Medical
Option major from McAlester with a 3.42 grade point average.
She is on the Dean’s Honor Roll. She is the mother of
four and raises her nephew. She is employed at Wal-mart, owns
and operates an auction business and assists with the Girl
Scouts Troop #1. |

Marshall, Linzi R. is a Pre-Medicine major from Okmulgee
with a 4.0 grade point average. She is a member of Phi Theta
Kappa and the Honors Program. She is on the National Dean’s
List, the President’s Honor Roll, received the “E” for
Excellence Award, the Outstanding Freshman Chemistry Achievement
Award, the Presidential and Foundation Scholarship and is the
Vice-President of Fellowship, and the Publicity officer for
the Honors Program. She works at Walgreens and is also a work
study for Eastern. She is a member of the Baptist Collegiate
Ministries, Project Graduation and PTK services, an OFU Judge
and also volunteers to help tutor other students. |

Massey, Rachel R. is a Pre-Medicine major from McAlester
with a 3.45 grade point average. She works at McAlester Regional
Hospital, plays on the hospital’s basketball team and
enjoys taking care of her sister’s three kids while she
is serving in the Army in Iraq. |

Menasco, Sondra L. is a Nursing major from Wilburton with
a 3.67 grade point average. She is a member of the OSNA and
Phi Theta Kappa Chapter. She is on the President’s and
Dean’s Honor Rolls, has received the Puterbaugh Award
and Scholarship, the “E” Award in Nursing and Nominated
to the Manchester’s Who’s Who. She is a volunteer
coach for the 3rd, 4th and 5th grade girls softball teams,
volunteer nursery worker and manager at the Java Cafe of The
King’s House Church in McAlester. |

Baptist Church, a wife, mother and homemaker and is a member

First Baptist Church of Stigler, high school, young children,
freshman tutor and volunteers for various organizations, such
as Latimer County Genealogical Society and the Baptist Christian

with a daughter, a full time pharmacy tech and is a Nationally

is a summer softball coach for the McAlester boys and girls

Editor for the yearbook for the 2004, 2005 and 2006 semesters.
She is also a sophomore reporter for the Eastern newspaper. |
