McBride Named To Development Foundation Board

McAlester banker and Boy’s and Girl’s Club of McAlester volunteer coach has recently accepted a position on the Eastern Oklahoma State College Development Foundation.

Executive Vice President of the First National Bank and Trust Company of McAlester Evans McBride has now accepted an additional volunteer position on the Eastern foundation to financially help area students as they begin their college career.

The Eastern foundation began in 1989 at the Wilburton college with the intent to build a permanent financial base upon which to extend scholarship assistance to college students attending Eastern from the surrounding area.

When classes begin August 15 for the fall semester at Eastern, students will receive more than $ 350,000 in scholarship assistance from the foundation.

Today, the foundation has more than $ 2 million in endowed funds upon which to build scholarships for Eastern students with more than $4 million in total foundation funds to bolster the college mission.

Evans was Senior Vice President and Chief Lending Officer for the Bank N.A. in McAlester from March 2003 until accepting his current post at the First National Bank and Trust March 2006.

He came to McAlester from Stephenville, TX, where he was the chief financial officer for a manufacturing company. He was employed with TexasBank, Brownwood, TX, from 1985 until 2001.

Evans is serving his second term as President of the McAlester Area Chamber of Commerce and Agriculture, is a member of the McAlester Rotary Club, Chair of the Trustees of Grand Avenue United Methodist Church in McAlester, past co-chair of the Oklahoma Scholars program with MPS and was named outstanding member of the 2004 class of Tri-County Leadership.

He attended Brownwood High School and Angelo State University in Texas and is a Graduate of the Graduate School of Banking of the South at Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge, LA.
