Lessons Offered As 'Guaranteed Fun For Music-Lovers' Have you always wanted to play the piano for your own fun and enjoyment, but the thought of taking piano lessons for six or seven years to accomplish that goal is a real turn-off? Two piano short courses will be offered at Eastern Oklahoma State College McAlester campus next week through Eastern’s Continuing Education Program to help with the quandary. Instant Piano-For Hopelessly Busy People and Piano by Ear-You Don’t Have to be Born with It, are “guaranteed fun for music-lovers,” instructor Terry Maddock says. “Instant Piano is easy, fun and musically correct. It’s you backstage pass to the magic of music. Freestyle pop piano playing made exciting for beginners as well as the classically trained.” Piano by Ear is a practical presentation of music theory that includes predicting chord progressions, picking out melodies, determining the key for any song expressed in every day language. “It’s an ideal follow-up to the Easy Piano Workshop,” according to Maddock. “Enjoy both workshops to get the full picture of how music works, with or without written score.” Instant Piano will be offered 6 to 9 p.m. Monday, June 19, followed by Piano by Ear 6 to 9 p.m. Tuesday, June 20. The cost of the workshops is $55 or both for $95 which covers registration, take-home materials and future workshops are free Maddock says. For additional information and pre-registration call Eastern Oklahoma State College at 918-465-1759.
