Honor Society Inducts Local Members Forty Eastern Oklahoma State College students were inducted into the national honor society Phi Theta Kappa during spring semester ceremonies held Sunday (March 26) on the Wilburton campus. Phi Theta Kappa is a national scholastic honor society with local chapters at colleges and universities across the United States. The Eastern chapter generally has near 100 students qualified for membership each year. Eastern Theta Pi chapter of Phi Theta Kappa returned from PTK Spring Oklahoma/Arkansas Regional Conference in Tulsa recently with several honors including the highest “5-Star Chapter Award” that any local honor society chapter can achieve. With more than 1.3 million members PTK is the largest honor society in American higher education. It has offered scholarships of more than $35 million designated for members. PTK is designed to promote scholarship, service leadership and fellowship among its members. Students must have at least a 3.5 grade point to be considered for membership after 30 hours and a 3.75 gpa as a freshman.
