Awards Outstanding Graduate

Two Eastern Oklahoma State College
students were presented the Outstanding Division of Science and Mathematics
Graduate award from
Division Chairman Karen Harrison, left, during the 97th spring
commencement recently on the Wilburton campus. Magan Mouser, right, from
Stigler and Linzi Marshall from Okmulgee tied for the honor. Harrison
said, “We were in the enviable position of having not one, but
two
students who have a 4.0 grade point average, have taken a rigorous and
nearly identical course of study, and honors program graduates and
are
members of Pi Theta Kappa honor society.” Marshall is the daughter
of
Lori and Brent Marshal, a presidential scholar, elected to Who’s
Who, on
the President’s Honor Roll and has held office in the Honors Student
Association. She has been accepted to the University of Oklahoma
pharmacy program in the fall. Mouser is the daughter of Bobby and Vicki
Mouser, a graduate of Tulsa Union High School, a pre-med major,
presidential scholar, has been elected to Who’s Who in American
Junior
Colleges, on the President’s Honor Roll, held office in the Honors
Student Association, active in Phi Theta Kappa and will be continuing
her pre-med studies at the University of Oklahoma.
Eastern spring graduates are among
28,400 Oklahoma students from 25 state colleges and universities estimated
to earn degrees this year.
This academic year Eastern will have granted just over 325 degrees
and
certificates of completion not counting other agencies including the
Department of Corrections Academy and the Oklahoma Miner Training
Institute also located on the Wilburton campus. Eastern graduates ranged
in age from 19 to 57 this year.
