Heather Dawn Bailey from Wilburton received
the Division of Social Science and Music Outstanding Graduate award
from Division Chairman
Marilynn Duncan during the 97th Eastern Oklahoma State College spring
commencement recently on the Wilburton campus. Her mother Elizabeth
Kinley received the award for her. Heather and her family recently moved
to Phoenix, AZ, where she plans to attend Arizona State University and
continue her studies in psychology. Bailey was on the President’s
and
Dean’s Honor Rolls, recipient of the Cherokee Nation Scholarship,
Psychology Departmental scholarship and Lloyd E. Church Foundation
Scholarship. She participated as an officer in the Psychology Club, and
participated in community related projects including the Thanksgiving
Food Drive,d Toys for Tots, Pick-A-Star, Cancer Relay-Walk for Life
and
was named to Who’s Who Among American Junior Colleges.
Eastern spring graduates are among
28,400 Oklahoma students from 25 state colleges and universities estimated
to earn degrees this year.
This academic year Eastern will have granted just over 325 degrees
and
certificates of completion not counting other agencies including the
Department of Corrections Academy and the Oklahoma Miner Training
Institute also located on the Wilburton campus. Eastern graduates ranged
in age from 19 to 57 this year.
