More than 100 students at Eastern Oklahoma
State College received endowment scholarships through the Eastern
Oklahoma State College
Development Foundation recently at an awards assembly in the Student
Union Ballroom on the Wilburton campus. Many of the students were those
who had applied for the scholarships in early March and will be incoming
freshman when classes begin next fall.

Krista Rowland |
| Krista Rowland from Pittsburg
was presented the Dr. James M. and Nancy Miller Scholarship by
Dr. J.N.
Baker. Rowland is a freshman majoring in business administration and
plans to get her bachelor’s degree in marketing. Rowland is the
daughter of Charlie and Julie Rowland. She graduated from Pittsburg
High School and was active in Eastern’s President’s Honor Roll, Eastern
Honor Classes, 4-H Club, basketball, softball, National Honor Society,
student council, Who’s Who Among American High School Students. |

Justin Lowder |
| Justin Lowder from Wilburton
was presented the Dr. Lloyd E. Church Scholarship by Marilynn
Duncan.
Lowder is a freshman majoring in business administration. He is the son
of William Lowder. Lowder graduated from Wilburton High School. |

Kimberly Thompson |
| Kimberly Thompson from Buffalo
Valley was presented the Dr. Lloyd E. Church Scholarship by Marilynn
Duncan. Thompson will be a freshman majoring in general studies
and
after completing her education at Eastern, she plans to attend the
University of Arkansas in Interior Design. She is the daughter of Pat
and Ed Skinner. Thompson graduated from Buffalo Valley High School and
was active in honor roll, Who’s Who Among American High School Students,
President’s Honor Roll, Oklahoma Honor Society, music, Quiz Bowl and
drama. |

Ava Paxton |
| Ava Paxton from Panola was
presented the Dr. Lloyd E. Church Scholarship by Marilynn Duncan.
Paxton is the daughter of Tina and Wade Paxton. She graduated
from
Panola High School and was active in band, vocals and FCCLA. |

Ryan England |
| Ryan England from Panola
was presented the Dr. Lloyd E. Church Scholarship by Marilynn
Duncan.
England is a freshman majoring in agriculture education. He would like
to teach agriculture education in Southeast Oklahoma and work with a
youth group at church upon completing his education. He is the son of
Rhonda Price Quinn. England graduated from Panola High School and was
active in Aggie Club, Soils Judging Team, FFA, State FFA Degree, class
president and baseball. |

Natasha Vinson |
| Natasha Vinson from Red Oak
was presented the Dr. Lloyd E. Church by Ray Henson. Vinson is
a freshman
majoring in psychology and after graduating from Eastern, she plans to
attend East Central University to get her master’s degree in
psychology. Vinson is the daughter of Stan and Sheila Vinson. She
graduated from Red Oak High School and was active in FCCLA, class
officer, National Honor Society and art. |

Carla Sanders |
| Carla Sanders from Red Oak
was presented with the Dr. Lloyd E. Church Scholarship by Ray
Henson.
Sanders is a freshman majoring in education and after completing her
degree, teaching and coaching certification, she will work towards her
deaf-education certification. After completing her masters degree she
plans to open a school for the deaf in Southeastern Oklahoma. Sanders
graduated from Red Oak High School. She is married with three
children. She is active as a Summer League Coordinator, First Baptist
Church Upward Bound Program, teacher’s aide, coaches assistant for
T-ball, 5-pitch, Co-Ed and women’s softball. |

Hollie Brinkley |
| Hollie Brinkley from Wilburton
was presented with the Dr. Lloyd E. Church Scholarship by Ray
Henson.
Brinkley will be a freshman majoring in general studies and would like
to become a teacher or a nurse. She is the daughter of Derrall and
Regina Brinkley. Brinkley graduated from Wilburton High School and was
active in FFA, 4-H Club, FBLA, 4-H Horse Club, basketball and 4-H/FFA
Show Team. |

Amanda Kirk |
| Amanda Kirk from Wilburton
was presented with the Dr. Lloyd E. Church Scholarship by Ray
Henson. Kirk
will be a freshman majoring in general studies and would like to
continue her education and get her bachelors degree. She is the
daughter of Bowdi and Michelle Kirk. Kirk graduated from Wiburton High
School and was active in varsity cheerleading, Who’s Who, FBLA,
yearbook, service learning, vocals, National Honor Society and speech. |

Daniel Patrick |
| Daniel Patrick from Wilburton
was presented with the Dr. Lloyd E. Church Scholarship by Ray
Henson.
Patrick will be a freshman majoring in forestry and plans to get his
bachelors degree in forestry after completing his education at Eastern.
He is the son of Dan and Heather Patrick. Patrick graduated from
Wilburton High School and was active in football, service learning,
FBLA, Pick-a-Star, decorating nursing homes, food drives and worked on
his father ranch as a ranch hand. |

Jessica Champion |
| Jessica Champion from Wilburton
was presented the Dr. Lloyd E. Church Scholarship by Ray Henson.
Champion is the daughter of Kurtis and Kristie Lund. She graduated from
Wilburton High School and was active in track, TSA, student council,
basketball, choir, softball, speech, yearbook, FBLA, FCCLA, homecoming
attendant and was Student of the Year. |

Woods will
be a freshman majoring in agriculture education. He is the son of Eddie
and Christine Woods. He graduated from Wilburton High School and was
active in FFA, football, baseball and FCCA. |

| Veronica Allen from Wilburton
was presented with the Dr. Lloyd E. Church Scholarship by Ed Woods.
Allen is a freshman majoring in music and would like to become
a
singer. She is the daughter of Patricia Rector. Allen graduated from
Wilburton High School and was active in speech, choir, band, academic
team, Color Guard and the Sound Sensations. |

Daniel Bacorn |
| Daniel Bacorn from Quinton was
presented with the E.O. Rowland Scholarship by Ed Woods. Bacorn will be
a freshman majoring in agriculture education and would like to continue
his education at Oklahoma State University to become an agriculture
teacher after completing his education at Eastern. He is the son of
Kenneth and LeVitia Bacorn. Bacorn graduated from Quinton High School
and was active in Livestock Judging, Quiz Bowl, 4-H Shooting Sports and
speech. |

Sara Maltese |
| Sara Maltese from Panola was
presented with the Edgar and Jessie Wood Scholarship by Bill Albright.
Maltese will be a freshman majoring in child development and would
like
to open her own day care center after completing her education. She is
the daughter of Robin and Doug Maltese. Maltese graduated from Panola
High School and was active in FCCLA, Pom and Dance, class president and
student council. |

Keith Ketcher |
| Keith Ketcher from Panola
was presented with the Edgar and Jessie Wood Scholarship by Bill
Albright.
Ketcher will be a freshman majoring in agriculture education and will
continue his education to get his bachelors degree. He is the son of
Robert and Tammy Ketcher. Ketcher graduated from Panola High School and
was active in student council, FFA, Show Swine, baseball, basketball and
the Panola Baptist Church. |

Amanda Wingo |
| Amanda Wingo from Wilson
was presented with the Faculty Choice Scholarship by Bill Albright.
Wingo is
a freshman majoring in biological sciences, after graduating from
Eastern she plans to attend Langston School of Physical Therapy and
participate in the doctoral program to obtain her Doctorate in Physical
Therapy. She will specialize in sports injuries and work with athletes
and younger people. Wingo is the daughter of Jeff and Margaret Wingo.
She graduated from Wilson High School and was active in FFA, National
Honor Society, Life Leaders, basketball, track, Eastern Aggie Club, Phi
Theta Kappa, American Cancer Society and Taekwondo. |

Beau Hall |
| Beau Hall from Howe was
presented with the Farrell-Cooper Mining Company Scholarship by Bill
Albright. Hall will be a freshman majoring in science and would like to
pursue an engineering degree with interest in the Arts & Radiology
field. He is the son of Elvis and Shonnie Hall. Hall graduated from
Howe High School and was active in FFA, Forestry Judging Team, Livestock
Shows, FCCLA, baseball, basketball, student council and drama. |

Cortney Loyd |
| Cortney Loyd from Poteau
was presented the Farrell-Cooper Mining Company Scholarship by
Bill
Albright. Loyd is a freshman majoring in animal science and plans to
transfer to Oklahoma State University to get her bachelor’s degree and
would like to work for the USDA or other research institutions for
diseases. She is the daughter of Jean Fehers. Loyd graduated from
Poteau High School and was active in Aggie Club, Meat Judging Team,
National Honor Society, FFA and owns Mountain Creek Boer goats. |

Selena Dambacher |
| Selena Dambacher from Clayton
was presented with the Frank Jr. and Grace Marie Cirar Scholarship by
Frank Raunikar. Dambacher will be a freshman majoring in secondary math
education and wants to become a math teacher. She is the daughter of
Eileen and James Fortner. Dambacher graduated from Clayton High School
and was active in soccer, math team, Spanish Club, Literature Club,
Speech and Debate Team, Bulldogs for Christ and Prom Committee. |

| Crystal Needham from Quinton
was presented with the Franklin Electric Scholarship by Don Butler.
Needham
is a freshman majoring in music and plans to have an Elementary
Education Teaching degree with an Associates in Music. She is married
with three daughters. Needham graduated from Quinton High School. She
is active in Eastern’s Choir and Sound Sensations. |

| Rowdy Long from Wilburton
was presented with the Franklin Electric Corporation Scholarship
by Don
Butler. Long will be a freshman majoring in biology with a goal to do
research in the field of biological sciences working for national parks
and other wild life reserves. He is the son of Harold and Kim Long.
Long graduated from Wilburton High School and was active in speech,
drama club, Academic Team, FBLA, FFA, TSA, Civil Air Patrol and National
Forensics League. |

| Hannah Snow from Stigler
was presented the Fred and Florence Stovall Scholarship by Ed Woods.
Snow
is a freshman majoring in journalism and plans to transfer to Oklahoma
University to get her bachelors to be able to work in the Journalism and
Communications field. She is the daughter of Ellis and Linda Snow.
Snow graduated from Stigler High School and was active in the marching
band, yearbook staff, Eastern Statesman and Mountaineer Yearbook. |

| Jane Chancellor from Whitesboro
was presented with the Gene Stipe Scholarship by Gary Batton.
Chancellor will be a freshman majoring in speech, language and
pathology
and once she completes her bachelor’s she will obtain her master’s
in
Speech and Language Pathology. She is the daughter of Deanna
Chancellor. Chancellor graduated from Whitesboro High School and was
active in student government, class officer, softball, basketball, FFA,
speech, YAB member, Crash Club Leader and Let’s Talk. |

was presented with the Guy Gardener Scholarship by Coach Bob Williams.
Bencoma is a freshman majoring in physical education and after getting
his bachelor’s degree, become a coach. He is the son of Pam Brown.
Bencoma graduated from Weleetka High School and was active in
basketball, FCA, BCM and the Little Mountaineers. |

presented the Joe and Brenda Coy Scholarship by Kay Langham. Rigsby
will be a freshman majoring in Life Science Pharmaceuticals and would
like to own a pharmacy. He is the son of Jerry and Susan Rigsby.
Rigsby graduated from Wilburton High School and was active in drama,
Speech and Debate Team, yearbook, student council, delegate at Boy’s
State, Relay for Life, Pick-a-Star and Meals-on-Wheels. |
