Theatre Eastern To Present 'The
Odd Couple' (female version) What do you get when a well-meaning woman takes in her best friend after her best friend separates from her husband and is basically homeless? Two hours of non-stop, side-splitting, hilarity. That’s what Theatre Eastern at Eastern Oklahoma State College, Wilburton campus, promises when they present The Odd Couple (Female Version) by Neil Simon on Thursday, September 28, Saturday, September 30 and Monday, October 2 at Mitchell Auditorium in Mitchell Hall on the Wilburton campus. There will be no Friday performance. After inviting her friend to stay with her, Olive Madison, a basically happy slob, quickly learns that not only can she not live with the obsessively clean and sinus challenged Florence Unger, nobody can. Adding to and merrily compounding the mushrooming mayhem are Olive and Florence’s zany friends compulsive smoker Sylvie, the New York cop Mickey, the familiar hard-as-nails New York dame Renee and the less-than-Seventh-Avenue-adorned Vera who astounds her friends by claiming her husband accuses her of dressing to sexy. Then there are Manolo and Jesus (Hay-zoos) Costazuela (Coast-uh-Zway-lah), brothers from Barcelona, Spain, whose apartment is two floors up (And toward whom Olive is making immodest romantic plans.). Krysten Williams, Antlers, portrays Olive Madison. Krysten is a freshman majoring in theatre. Portraying the role of Florence Unger is Nikki Little of Clayton. Nikki is a freshman theatre major. Brittany Roberson, freshman nursing major from McAlester, portrays the role of Sylvie. Tiffany D. Craig, Wister, portrays Mickey. Tiffany is a sophomore theatre major. Jolene Hill of Wilburton is Renee, Jolene is a sophomore theatre major. The role of Vera is played by Melissa England, McAlester freshman journalism major. Manolo Costazuela is played by Brett Rigsby, a Wilburton freshman theatre major, and portraying his brother Jesus Costazuela is Nathan Presley, a freshman theatre major from Van Alstyne, Texas. Stage Manager for the production is James Neill of Canadian, Oklahoma, a sophomore journalism major. The Odd Couple (Female Version) is directed by Debra Collins Bailey. This is Bailey’s first show at EOSC, having taken over the theatre reins in August. Bailey is a graduate of Hartshorne High School. She earned her Bachelor of Arts Degree at East Central University, Ada, and her Master of Performing Arts Degree from Oklahoma City University. She has more than 30 years’ experience as an actress, director, producer, writer, teacher and arts administrator. Performances will begin at 7:30 p.m. each evening.
