Scrapbooking Workshop Making Stop On McAlester Campus

School’s back in session and the weather is finally down to the double-digits, but the memories of this summer will stay around forever. Preserving year-round memories in a scrapbook has been a popular method of safeguarding the important moments in life for years, and has more recently become an art form.

For those who are ready to get their foot in the door of scrapbooking, or for those who are already pros, Eastern Oklahoma State College, through its continuing education program, is again offering a workshop specifically designed for scrapbookers.

After a successful workshop this summer at Eastern in Wilburton, Sarah Akins will be hosting a similar event, this time on the McAlester campus.

“There will be more incorporation of actual layouts this time,” said Akins, a Creative Memories Independent Consultant. “I think that everyone really enjoyed it this summer, and I had a lot of interest in the McAlester area.” The workshop will be from 9 a.m. until 4 p.m. on Sept. 23 in Room 110 of the Wanda Bass Building. The price for the all-day event will be $75 with supplies and album provided.

‘Preserving summertime memories’ will be the theme for the workshop and participants will need to bring 25 to 50 photos. An optional photography workshop will also be offered at no extra charge. Space at the workshop is limited, so interested parties must enroll and pay the fee no later than Sept. 20. Late enrollments may be allowed on a space available basis.
