Eastern Signs State's Leading
Scorer Adams, a 5-foot-10 forward, averaged 24 points per game for the Lady Wildcats this season, finishing her four-year high school career with an average of 18.6 points per game. For her stellar play, the Daily Oklahoman honored her this year with the title of “Super Five Player of the Year,” an award given to the paper’s pick for the best player in the entire state. Adams was also named to the Tulsa World’s All-State first team, as well as making the Oklahoma Coaches Association All-State team. After Adams led Bethel to its twelfth consecutive state tournament appearance and a two-year record of 50-5, she was courted by several small Division 1 schools. But the senior chose to sign with the Wilburton junior college in order to further develop her skills on the hard-court. The Lady Mountaineers will also welcome Adams’ fellow Daily Oklahoman All-Stater, Shaqualla Alexander, of Wewoka. Alexander averaged 20.8 points per game in her senior campaign with the Lady Tigers. Area players Nicole Harris, Savanna and Heather Kirkland, Stigler have also signed to play with Eastern next season. Kirkland, averaged 18.1 points per game for the Lady Panthers, while Harris finished her senior season with 15 points per game. Michelle Hardimon, of Westmoore and the third leading scorer in the state, Rikki Wolfe, of Schulter have also signed letters of intent with the Lady Mountaineers. Wolfe averaged 22.3 points per game for the 2006-07 season.
