More Than 300 Area Students
Attend 'My Space At Eastern' Visitation Day High school students from across the state descended upon Eastern Oklahoma State College Monday (Feb 26) for the Wilburton college’s tenth annual Mountaineer Monday. Designed as a visitation day for high school seniors to explore Eastern’s programs, activities, clubs and the campus before choosing a college, the special "My Space @ Eastern" themed Monday had more than 300 students from more than 30 area schools attend the all-day program. Leah McLaughlin, Vice President for student services and enrollment management, said this was one of the best Mountaineer Mondays ever. Invitations were sent to high school students who expressed an interest when filling out profile cards for Eastern at career fairs. Posters and registration cards were also sent to all Oklahoma high school counselors. The day included a variety of activities including an opportunity to visit with campus club representatives, academic areas, administrative offices, students and instructors. McLaughlin says there were “fun-stuff” activities including a dance, a free lunch and a free Mountaineer Monday T-shirt as well as lots of door prizes including gift cards, an Apple ipod as well as scholarships. Current Eastern students helped host the high school seniors through the day’s activities and answer the inevitable questions the campus visitors had. “Our student leaders made the day a great success," McLaughlin said. High school seniors were able to see the campus up close and experience for themselves what Eastern has to offer."
