Crowder Students Visit Space
Museum As Part Of College Project Submitted story & photo Imagine a theater capable of transporting you to the outer limits of the universe! Now imagine 68 students and 9 sponsors being transported through our universe, galaxy and solar system in search of liquid water. That’s exactly what 6th and 7th grade students from Crowder recently experienced as they visited the Tulsa Air and Space Museum and Planetarium. The field trip was sponsored by Eastern Oklahoma State College’s GEAR UP for a Brighter Tomorrow. “The GEAR UP grant is designed to provide educational and cultural experiences for cohort students,” explained Project Director Linda Morgan. “Field trips are just one of the components of service we are offering to students. It’s a great cooperative effort between Eastern and Crowder. We look forward to more activities that enhance students’ educational experiences.” Eastern Oklahoma State College received a $6.7 million federal GEAR UP grant and is in its first year of implementation. Eastern has partnered with area schools to provide students with additional educational opportunities. The GEAR UP for a Brighter Tomorrow grant application was one of 27 selected nation–wide to receive funding.
