Public 'Ideas' Forum To
Be Hosted On McAlester Campus McAlester will be the site of another session in a series designed to find the best 100 ideas to lead Oklahoma into its second century. House Speaker Lance Cargill, R-Harrah, along with local McAlester Reps. Terry Harrison-D and Brian Renegar-D and Sen. Richard Lerblanc, D-Hartshorne, have scheduled an idea raising session at noon Friday, March 16, on the Eastern Oklahoma State College McAlester campus, 1802 E. College Ave., Clark Bass Building. The public forums are patterned after a Florida program to raise ideas. The initiative was launched in January by the nonprofit 100 Ideas organization to give average Oklahomans a voice in public policy development. The McAlester session is focused on the needs of rural Oklahoma. Organizers hope to have participants from surrounding counties join the discussion. More than 300 ideas have surfaced as a result of public brainstorming in churches, public buildings and homes across the state. Ideas from all areas including education, tourism, economic development and many others have surfaced. Organizers request an RSVP for the Focus on Rural Oklahoma Session at 1-888-465-2007 or email rsve@100ideasok.org. |
