College Nursing
Program Receives Grant, Expands Offerings The nursing program at Eastern Oklahoma State College has received a $2 million grant over the next 3 years which will allow expansion of their Associate Degree Registered Nursing (ADN) program at the SOSU McCurtain County Campus in Idabel, Eastern Branch Campus in McAlester and the Wilburton Campus. Eastern federal grant was one of 72 grants awarded by the US Department of Labor in Washington, D.C. Wendy Hubbard, Eastern Director of Nursing said “the purpose of the grant is to help increase the number of RNs to meet the increasing need in southeastern Oklahoma and to encourage any one interested in caring for others to choose nursing as a career. Nursing in southeastern Oklahoma needs to recruit men into the Nursing field especially in the areas of intensive care and emergency room. Hubbard said it’s never too late to start a career in nursing. The program is currently accepting nursing applicants through July 1st for the Fall semester.
