Eastern Honor Society Presented
With Voter Registration Banner Students of Eastern Oklahoma State College’s honor society Phi Theta Kappa accepted a banner Friday (May 4) for winning the fourth annual VOICE Voter Registration Contest. With Oklahoma Chancellor of Higher Education Dr. Glen D. Johnson and Campus Compact Director, Gina Wekke on hand, the club was presented the banner in the President’s Dining Room on the Wilburton campus. “It is important to remember that the start of the U.S. dealt with the right of citizens,” Chancellor Johnson said to the guests. In the September contest, Eastern registered 11.53 percent of its student body to vote, beating 11 other colleges and universities throughout Oklahoma. This year’s contest registered 1,251 total new voters in the state. Caption info:
