
Forensic Science Specialist
Speaks With Eastern Students Dr. Dwight Adams, Director of University of Central Oklahoma’s Forensic Science Institute, Edmond, right, chatted with Eastern Oklahoma State College Vice President of Academic Affairs, Dr. Karen Harrison, before addressing an auditorium full of Eastern students Tuesday (10-16-07) morning. Adams addressed students who had an interest in biology, forensics and criminal justice in Pratt Little Theatre and met for an informal question and answer session in the President’s Dining Room following his address. Adams is the retired director of the FBI Laboratory in Quantico, VA, and was the first to testify in 1988 using DNA as court room evidence. He oversaw the creation of the National DNA data base linking 175 crime laboratories and is responsible for solving or aiding more than 30,000 cases nationwide. He was the recipient of the Presidential Rank Award as Distinguished Executive in 2003 – the highest award given in the federal government. He is the author of numerous scientific publications, mostly in the field of DNA technology applied to human identification.
