Runyon-Gomez, Neva A. is a journalism major from Muse with a
3.50 grade point average. She is a member of the Photo Club and
active with the Statesman newspaper and “Mountaineer” Yearbook. Neva
has been on the dean’s honor roll four times and has an Associate
of Arts in Criminal Justice. She has six children, whom she
home schools. |

Sato, Yuichi is a general studies major from Wilburton with
a 3.88 grade point average. He is president of the International
Students Organization and in the Eastern Student Government Association. Yuichi
received the Karolyn and John Hendrix Scholarship Award and is
on the dean’s honor roll. He is a member of Phi Theta
Kappa and is a very good leader with good organizational skills
and is quite motivational with club members. He works
in Eastern’s cafeteria on the Work Study program and wants
to volunteer to build churches in Mexico. |

Schiwart, Sonya L. is a nursing major from Wilburton with a
3.50 grade point average. She is a member of the Nursing
Club and Phi Theta Kappa. Sonya received the Yourman Foundation
Scholarship for the fall of 2008, the Puterbaugh Scholarship
and the “E” Award. She works part-time at the
Dollar General Store, is a mother to seven children, a member
of the Calvary Baptist Church and volunteers at the Latimer Christian
Clinic. |

Shaw, Eric W. is an animal science major from Antlers with
a 3.79 grade point average. He is President of Phi Theta
Kappa, Honors Club Officer, freshman and sophomore Honors Council
Representative and Aggie Club committee member. Eric is active
in livestock and soils. He was on the National Soils Judging
Team in 2007, is a Presidential Scholar, on the Dean’s
Honor Roll, has a State FFA Farmer Degree and American Farmer
Degree. He is involved in the Oklahoma Junior Brangus
Breeders Association and the International Brangus Breeders Association. |

Shimizu, Chie is a pre-medicine major from Japan with a 3.92
grade point average. Chie is a member of the International
Students Organization, Phi Theta Kappa and the Church of Christ/Sigma
Alpha Omega. She is on the dean’s honor roll, the president’s
honor roll and Japan’s College of Foreign Students President’s
Honor Roll. |

Shoulders, Heath has a double major in medical
science and theatre from Wilburton with a 2.86 grade point average. Heath
is a member of the Characters Club and is actively involved with
the Drama Department and speech/debate. |

Smith, Kalah L. is a pre-vet major from Eufaula with a 3.83
grade point average. Kalah is a member of the Phi Theta
Kappa, Vice President of Service and the Honors Club secretary. She
is active in intramurals, is on the dean’s honor roll for
2006 and 2007, placed 1st in Area Voter Registration (PTK) in
2006 and placed 2nd in Area Voter Registration (PTK) in 2007. She
is a work-study for the financial aid office and helps her dad
with his business wiring phone jacks. She is a chaperone
for her church and assists with the activities. |

Tipton, Randy Wayne is an agriculture education and animal
science major from Stuart with a 3.93 grade point average. Randy
is a member of the Phi Theta Kappa, the Honors Club and the Aggie
Club. He is actively involved in livestock, soils and intramurals. He
is a participant in the Dixie National Judging Championship Team,
Who’s Who Among High School Students, the Voter Registration
Team for 2006, 1st place and placed 4th in the livestock judging
Interscholastic Contest at Eastern. Randy is an Agriculture
employee at Jones Academy in Hartshorne, a member of the Free
Will Baptist Church and a volunteer for the fire department. He
assists his parents with farm and ranch responsibilities and
does odd jobs for his neighbors. |

Tucker, Matthew L. is a theatre major from Kinta with a 3.44
grade point average. Matthew is a member of the Characters
Club and actively involved with the Drama Department and speech/debate. |

Vaughn, Liz Anne is a journalism major from Krebs with a 3.20
grade point average. Liz is a member of the Photo Club
and is the Copy Editor for the Statesman newspaper. She
is a full-time employee at Jeff Herrick’s Law Office and
the mother of a 6 year old, Eden. |

Welton, Jacquelynn D. is an agriculture communications major
from Poteau with a 3.20 grade point average. She is a member
of the Aggie Club and the Photo Club. Jacuelynn is active
with the Statesman newspaper and the “Mountaineer” yearbook. She
is an American FFA Degree recipient, All-American Meats Judger,
and a member of 3rd place Team at Plainview Meats Contest in 2007. She
placed 5th Overall Individual at Plainview, 6th Overall Individual,
1st place Beef Grading at Emporia Meats Contest, at the Fort Worth
Meat Contest placed 1st in Beef Grading and 4th Overall in Questions. She
has received the Rachael Hamilton Memorial Award and the Ferril
Muller Memorial Scholarship for 2007. Jaquelynn is a teller
at the Community State Bank, runs NOTLEW Farms in Poteau, works
as a farm hand at Eastern’s hog farm, is a member of the
Southside Baptist Church and was a graphic designer for the Community
State Bank in 2006. |

Young, Ashley J. is an administrative office technology major
from Sallisaw with a 3.08 grade point average. Ashley is
active in cheerleading and does community service toward her
Cherokee Scholarship. She is a Foundation Scholarship Awardee
for two years, a Cherokee Nation Scholarship Awardee and is on
the dean’s honor roll. |
