Tanya Brown To Speak At Eastern Oklahoma State College

Tanya Brown, life skills coach and sister of Nicole Brown Simpson, will speak to Eastern Oklahoma State College students and the surrounding community 6 p.m. Thursday (Sept. 4) in Mitchell Hall Auditorium on the Wilburton campus.

As part of Eastern’s ‘100 Things You Can Do About Domestic Violence’ program, Brown will help educate the audience on recognizing the beginning signs of abuse and spread awareness on domestic violence in the United States.

“People have a choice when something tragic happens in their life, to sit back or to educate,” Brown says.

Brown adds that she became a professional speaker because she had a story to tell. She knew that she could make a difference in people’s lives and help them in any situation that they are in.

Since the tragic murder of her sister Nicole on June 12, 1994, Brown and her family have established The Nicole Brown Foundation in an “effort to prevent more ‘Nicole’s’ from happening.”

Motivated to help educate the nation about domestic violence, Brown holds a bachelor’s degree in Counseling and Psychology and has become a certified Domestic Violence Counselor, is a certified Domestic Violence Court Advocate, a Certified Life Management Coach and has been trained by Blue Shield of America on what to do when domestic violence comes to the workplace. A few of her many specialties include personal development, crisis intervention and management, and life skills coaching. She continues to make national television appearances in an effort to help spread her message of awareness.

Along with the responsibilities as the co-founder of The Nicole Brown Foundation, Brown is a Life Management Coach and Marketer of Speaking Business at Tanya Brown and Associates in Dana Point, Calif.

According to Brown, “nothing brings me more joy than to help others.” She adds that she loves to talk to people one-on-one and hopes that Eastern and the community will come out to hear what she has to say.
