Concert Series Features Local College Instructor

Enjoy a musical "tour de force" while taking a musical journey with stops at  your local house of worship, the Broadway theatre, and the European opera stage when Latimer County Arts Council presents "An Evening with Dottie," featuring local favorite Dottie Minshall, Friday, March 7, at 7 p.m. at the First Presbyterian Church, 108 E. Blair, Wilburton.

"This is the second performance of the newly created concert series which hopes to bring quality musical entertainment to local audiences while raising money for arts education in local school districts," according to Ruth Askew Brelsford,  president of the local arts council.

The evening promises "something for everyone," according to Dottie.  Selections will include art songs and arias, Broadway show tunes, and songs of worship.  The evening will end with Dottie on flute, accompanied by Kathy Brode, McAlester, who will be remembered by local audiences as Michael Ginsburg's accompaniest for his violin concert which was the first in the concert series.

Dottie is the director of  Theatre Eastern's children's theatre program  where she also performs and choreographs.  She wowed local audiences with her protrayals of "Amanda" in THE GLASS MENAGERIE,"Anna" in THE KING AND I, and "Sarah" in QUILTERS.  Her degree is from Dallas Baptist where she double majored in voice performance and flute performance.   She has appeared with the Dallas Symphony Orchestra and Dallas Opera.  Dottie is the wife of Todd Minshall, local community leader and pastor at High Bridge Baptist Church.  They have two sons.
