Howell Named Vice President of Business Affairs

LaDonna HowellEastern Oklahoma State College President Dr. Steve Smith told regents during their regular meeting Thursday (June 12) that there would be a change in leadership in the Wilburton college business office.

Interim Vice President of Business Affairs and Dean of the McAlester Campus Vic Woods had resigned to take a superintendents position at Varnum Schools in Seminole County. Woods had served in the interim position for the last year.

Smith said the position would be filled from within naming LaDonna Howell as the new vice president of business affairs.

“We are very excited to have an internal candidate for this position, which will make the transition a smooth one,” Smith said.  “During her time with Eastern, she has proven that she has the skills to be a quality leader."

Howell was hired at Eastern during November 2006 as a certified public accountant in the business office. She has had several experiences in accounting since earning her accounting license.

 She began her professional career at Beverly Enterprises in Ft. Smith, moved to Oklahoma Blue Cross and Blue Shield in Oklahoma City as a medicare auditor, a supervising consultant with BKP-LLP in Tulsa, accountant for the Alabama-Quassarte Tribal Town in Wetumka and a partner in private business in Henryetta before coming to Eastern.

Howell is a 1992 Eastern business Administration graduate. She later earned a BA in accounting from East Central University in 1994 and was certified in 1995 as a CPA. She was graduated in 1990 from Kinta High School and was valedictorian of her class.
