Team Sponsors Texas Instruments Workshop Twenty area teachers joined members of the Eastern Oklahoma State College GEAR UP for a Brighter Tomorrow team for a math teacher workshop presented by Texas Instruments Educational Technology Consultant Robb Wilson. The workshop was held recently at the Eastern Oklahoma State College Wanda Bass Higher Ed Center in McAlester. Wilson kept the educators busy exploring a variety of feature applications of the TI–83 calculator. Participants also operated a variety of TI calculators. Wilson demonstrated the TI–Navigator Classroom Learning System. GEAR UP is considering purchasing the system for partner schools. “It’s a great tool for any classroom,” Wilson explained. “We’re looking at math applications, but it can be used in history, English, science and other classes.” Eastern Oklahoma State College received a $6.7 million federal GEAR UP grant and is in its second year of implementation. Eastern has partnered with area schools to provide students and teachers with additional educational opportunities. Caption info:
