Business Club Attends State Conference Six members and advisers from Eastern Oklahoma State College chapter of Phi Beta Lambda recently attended the 2008 Oklahoma FBLA-PBL State Fall Leadership Conference Tulsa Community College--Metro Campus. "FBLA-PBL: Get the Edge" was the theme for the event. Keynote speaker, Kyle Eastham, combined his knowledge and experience as a judo instructor, professional speaker, and corporate trainer to inform, motivate, and entertain. Kyle has been practicing the martial arts since 1985. He holds the rank of black belt in 3 different arts: Judo-3rd degree, Aikido-3rd degree, and Karate-1st degree. He has worked as a training manager, human resources manager, part-time Army officer (National Guard), game warden, and martial arts instructor. He is also the author of one of the coolest books on performance, success, and everyday life, Life is a Bowl of Choices. Members attended various breakout sessions including Officer/Member Training; Life is a Bowl of Choices; Test Taking; Interview Like a Pro; Stress Relief; Communication Station: How to Effectively Communicate within Your Chapter; FBLA Business Achievement Awards & PBL Career and Membership Achievement Awards; Ice Breakers and Team Building Exercises; Self-Defense for Non-Black Belts; Best Practices: Getting More Bang for Your Buck!; Communication; and Spit it Out! Workshop presenters included Linda Morgan, Oklahoma FBLA-PBL State Adviser; Brian Ferrell, Oklahoma FBLA-PBL State Officer Team Adviser; Jr. Calton, Oklahoma FBLA-PBL State Assistant; Amanda Cox, Human Resources Administrator for HMT; Gloria Lau, 2008-2009 PBL National Secretary; Mary Marshall, 2007--2008 PBL National Treasurer; Lisa Smothers, FBLA-PBL National Membership Director; and Kyle Eastham, keynote speaker. Students and advisers attending from Eastern Oklahoma State College were Stormy McCarn, Clayton; Renato Zink, Wilburton; Kevin Danel, Hartshorne; and Daniel Sandefur, Hartshorne, Co-Adviser George Larson, and Co-Adviser Linda Morgan. Future Business Leaders of America-Phi Beta Lambda, Inc., is a national student vocational education association that prepares students for careers in business and business education. Membership is over 260,000 in 11,000 chapters across the United States and abroad. Future Business Leaders of America has two divisions--mid-level and high school and Phi Beta Lambda is the collegiate division. Caption info:
