Livestock Judging Team Wins At Tulsa State Fair

The Eastern Oklahoma State College
Livestock Judging Novice team won the Tulsa State Fair contest held
Oct. 4. With a combined team total of 3373 points, Eastern finished
ahead of Connors State College by 13 points to win the title.
Along with the team championship, there were
also several individual awards brought home: Shane Smith, Quinton,
Third High Individual Overall; Justin Frailey, Mannford, 5th
High Individual Overall; Kirk Vickrey, Minco, 8th High Individual Overall;
and Megan Olvera, Texarkana, Ark. finished just out of the top 10.
Other
members of the winning team are: Tara Maye, Haworth; Dustin Ratliffe,
Red Rock; Whitney Keeling, Farmington, Ark.; Andy Harvill, Parigould,
Ark. and Lakesha Hawkins, Madill.
“This was a great accomplishment for a very talented
group of individuals,” Livestock Judging coach Todd Blocker
said.
The Livestock Judging Teams participated in its first competition
of the fall semester Sept. 12 in Amarillo, Texas at the Tri-State Fair.
There were more than 150 students in attendance and over 15 schools represented.
The following students received recognition in the competition.
