(Press Release 06-25-09)
Hank Mooney, Office of Public Information

Theatre Eastern’s Children’s Theatre Workshop (CTW) Summer Arts ’09 Program is scheduled for Monday, July 6th-Friday, July 10th from 9am to 3pm this year. This year’s theme is “Dream Big!” and students will have the opportunity to do just that as they get to choose workshop classes from the performing, musical, and visual arts on the campus of Eastern Oklahoma State College in Wilburton.

Summer Arts ’09 is open to any student who has finished the 2nd through 12th grades, and the cost of tuition is only $45. This covers the cost of classes, supplies, snacks, and a camp T-shirt to be worn in the showcase. Each student should bring a sack lunch each day and arrive at Eastern’s Mitchell Auditorium by 9am each morning of the week. Sessions will end each day at 3pm, and the students will perform in a free Showcase on Friday night at 7pm so that family and friends can enjoy some of the work the students have been doing.

Campers will be divided by age with children 7-10 taking special art, music, and theatre sessions geared toward their age group. Students 11 and older will be able to choose three of the various other offerings, including; Dance, Music, Creative Writing, Painting, Drawing, Improvisation, Acting, Mask Making, and more. Students of any age do not need to have any previous experience in the arts to participate in Dream Big!

Parents may pre-enroll their children or youth by calling Director, Melissa Lee at 918-465-1758, or campers may be registered the morning of July 6th at 8:45am in Mitchell Auditorium. Some scholarship assistance is available for those with financial need. Call Mrs. Lee with any questions.

Lee said, “Please have your children wear comfortable clothes that they can move in and shoes that are not flip-flops. We’re going to be active and have a great time, and we hope that as many kids as possible will be able to participate in this year’s program. No matter what kind of big dreams a student has, a well-rounded education, including rich experiences in the arts, can help them to achieve those dreams.”
