Regional Science, Engineering Fair Held On Wilburton Campus

The annual Eastern Oklahoma Regional Science and Engineering Fair was held recently on the Wilburton campus of Eastern Oklahoma State College. Students from 10 area schools participated with more than 50 entries in 16 categories. Click on photos for larger version.

Tiffany Krigbaum Tiffany Krigbaum from Pocola High School won first place in the Senior High Physical Sciences category with her entry “Is it worth your 10 cents?”. Her entry also earned her the United States Air Force award as well as the United States Army award and the right to compete in the Oklahoma State Science & Engineering Fair.     Caleb Arterberry

Caleb Arterberry from Canadian High School won second place in the Senior High Physical Sciences category with his entry “Shox vs. LeBrons”.

Jason O’Rear

Jason O’Rear from Idabel Middle School won second place in the Junior High Physical Sciences category with his entry “And that’s how the ball bounces”.

Chelsey Morris

Chelsey Morris from Lane Schools won first place in the Junior High Physical Sciences category with her entry “Firefighter’s dilemma”. Her entry also earned her the Society for Science and the Public award as well as the United States Navy/Marine Core award and the right to compete in the Oklahoma State Science & Engineering Fair.

Logan D. Sloan

Logan D. Sloan from Pocola Middle School won first place in the Junior High Earth and Space Sciences category with his entry “Will 2009 be the year we disprove global warming?”. His entry also earned him the United States Metric Association award as well as the right to compete in the Oklahoma State Science & Engineering Fair.

Brock Marble

Brock Marble from Lane Schools won first place in the Junior High Environmental Sciences category with his entry “Bio-alternative to Methyl bromide fumigation to control soil-borne pathogens”. His entry also earned him the Blake Self award as well as the right to compete in the Oklahoma State Science & Engineering Fair.

Hayley Atwell

Hayley Atwell from Lane Schools won second place in the Junior High Environmental Sciences category with her entry “The amount of paper wasted in different classrooms at the location of Lane Public Schools”.

Keely Helterbrand Keely Helterbrand from Canadian High School won second place in the Senior High Environmental Sciences category with her entry “How clean is a restaurant?”.
Kiersten M. January

Kiersten M. January from Canadian High School won first place in the Senior High Environmental Sciences category with her entry “Plant and smoke; bad combination?”.

Emily Williams Emily Williams from Idabel Middle School won first place in the Junior High Engineering category with her entry “Don’t stop the music”. Her entry also earned her the National Society of Professional Engineers award as well as the Society for Science and the Public award and the right to compete in the Oklahoma State Science & Engineering Fair.
Chermara Wharry

Chermara Wharry from Idabel Middle School won second place in the Junior High Engineering category with her entry “More power to the hour”.

Regan Feuerhelm

Regan Feuerhelm from Lane Schools won first place in the Junior High Biological Sciences category with her entry “Concentration of Lutein in Ocimum basilicum”. Her entry also earned her the Society for Science and the Public award and the right to compete in the Oklahoma State Science & Engineering Fair.

Hannah Dennington

Hannah Dennington from Idabel Middle School won second place in the Junior High Biological Sciences category with her entry “Germ busters”.

Katessa Karch

Katessa Karch from Canadian High School won second place in the Senior High Biological Sciences category with her entry “Bacteria… Bacteria…”.  Her entry also earned her the United States Air Force award as well as the United States Army award and the right to compete in the Oklahoma State Science & Engineering Fair.

Taylor Runyan

Taylor Runyan from Atoka High School won first place in the Senior High Biological Sciences category with her entry “How do supermarket tomatoes compare in lycopene?”.  Her entry also earned her the Society for In-vitro Biology award as well as the United States Army award and the right to compete in the Oklahoma State Science & Engineering Fair.

Delaney Williams

Delaney Williams from Pocola High School won second place in the Senior High Behavioral and Social Sciences category with her entry “Sexual Assult, the moon and you”. Her entry also earned her the American Psychological Association award.

Chelana Leal

Chelana Leal from Canadian High School won first place in the Senior High Behavioral and Social Sciences category with her entry “Honesty, what’s that?”. Her entry also earned her the right to compete in the Oklahoma State Science & Engineering Fair.

Morgan Fox

Morgan Fox from Idabel Middle School won second place in the Junior High Behavioral and Social Sciences category with her entry “Do you see what I see?”.

Lane Williams

Lane Williams from Idabel Middle School won first place in the Junior High Behavioral and Social Sciences category with his entry “Which road would you choose?”. Her entry also earned her the right to compete in the Oklahoma State Science & Engineering Fair.

Laura Hernandez Ruiz

Laura Hernandez Ruiz from Idabel Middle School won first place in the Junior High Mathematics category with her entry “ROUND-UP”.  Her entry also earned her the right to compete in the Oklahoma State Science & Engineering Fair.

Tanner Turner

Tanner Turner from Idabel Middle School won second place in the Junior High Mathematics category with his entry “Holy Cow”.

Kreg Haney

Kreg Haney and Raegan Thomas from Pansy Kidd Middle School won first place in the Junior High Team Projects category with their entry “The go green project”. Their entry also earned them the right to compete in the Oklahoma State Science & Engineering Fair.

Isabel Zuniga

Isabel Zuniga and Olga J. Zuniga from Lane Schools won second place in the Junior High Team Projects category with their entry “Germination of seeds of biofuel feedstock crops in response to soil temperature, 2nd year study”.
