Regional Science, Engineering fair held on Wilburton Campus

The annual Eastern Oklahoma Regional Science and Engineering Fair was held recently on the Wilburton campus of Eastern Oklahoma State College. Students from 10 area schools participated with more than 65 entries in 16 categories.

Delaney Williams Delaney Williams from Pocola High School won first place in the Senior High Behavioral Sciences category with her entry “Female Intuition?”.  Her entry also earned her the Oklahoma Frontiers of Science award and the right to compete in the Oklahoma State Science & Engineering Fair.
Johnson Ali Johnson from Idabel Middle School won first place in the Junior High Behavioral & Social Sciences category with her entry “Text Wrecks”. Her entry also earned her the United States Air Force award and the right to compete in the Oklahoma State Science & Engineering Fair.
Runyan Taylor Runyan from Atoka High School won first place in the Senior High Biological Sciences category with her entry “Synthetic Lycopene: Barrier to A549 Human Carcinoma Lungcells from UVC Light, 4 year study.”. Her entry also earned her the ISEF Award, the Oklahoma Frontiers of Science award, the United States Navy award, the United States Army award, the United States Air Force award, as well as the right to compete in the Oklahoma State Science & Engineering Fair.
Sloan Logan Sloan from Pocola High School won first place in the Senior High Earth and Space Sciences category with his entry “Why are we Still Talking About Global Warming? Phase 2: Vaporizing Global Warming”. His entry also earned him the American Meteorological Society award, the NOAA award and the United States Metric Association award.
Grimsley Devan Grimsley from McCall Middle School won first place in the Junior High Earth and Space Sciences category with her entry “The Dirt on Dirt, The Water Retention on Soil”. Her entry also earned her the Oklahoma Frontiers of Science award, the Blake Self Award, the United States Navy award, the Association of Women Geoscientists award and the right to compete in the Oklahoma State Science & Engineering Fair.
Feuerhelm Regan Feuerhelm from Atoka High School won first place in the Junior High Biological Sciences category with her entry “The concentration of Lutein in Ocimum basilicum, 2nd year study”. Her entry also earned her the right to compete in the Oklahoma State Science & Engineering Fair.
Krigbaum Tiffany Krigbaum from Pocola High School won first place in the Senior High Physical Sciences category with her entry “To Take It In, You Must Take Some of It Out: Drinking H20 in LeFlore County”. Her entry also earned her the Stockholm Junior Water Prize award, the United States Air Force award, the United States Army award, the United States Navy award and the right to compete in the Oklahoma State Science & Engineering Fair.
Geoffrey Williamson Geoffrey Williamson from Idabel Middle School won first place in the Junior High Physical Sciences category with his entry “Surface Drag”. His entry also earned him the United States Navy award, the United States Air Force award and the right to compete in the Oklahoma State Science & Engineering Fair.
Keely Helterbrand Keely Helterbrand from Canadian High School won first place in the Senior High Environmental Sciences category with her entry “How Clean is a Restaurant?”.
Angelica Andrews Angelica Andrews from Idabel Middle School won first place in the Junior High Environmental Sciences category with her entry “Which Cleaner is Meaner?”. Her entry also earned her the right to compete in the Oklahoma State Science & Engineering Fair.
Dalton Stacy Dalton Stacy from Idabel Middle School won first place in the Junior High Engineering category with his entry “Electromagnetic Crane”.
Ciarra Hankins Ciarra Hankins from Idabel Middle School won first place in the Junior High Mathematics category with her entry “Does our School Weight In?”.
Kreg Haney and Raegan Thomas Kreg Haney and Raegan Thomas from Pansy Kidd Middle School won first place in the Junior High Team Projects category with their entry “Go Green”. Their entry also earned them the Ricoh award, the Oklahoma Frontiers of Science award and the right to compete in the Oklahoma State Science & Engineering Fair.
Tyler Shannon and Patrick Cartwright Tyler Shannon and Patrick Cartwright from Poteau High School won first place in the Senior High Team Projects category with their entry “Vinegar Eels and Antifreeze”.  Their entry also earned them the Oklahoma Frontiers of Science award and the right to compete in the Oklahoma State Science & Engineering Fair.
