Annual spring concert slated for Wilburton campus

Eastern Oklahoma State College Music Department  will present the annual Spring Concert, with one performance to be held 7p.m. Thursday  (March 11th) in Eastern’s Mitchell Auditorium on the Wilburton campus featuring Eastern’s Concert Choir, Sound Sensations and selected soloists as they present an hour-long concert.

The choral program will include The Heavens Are Telling by Haydn, Aura Lee, a traditional folk song,  Sing Ye Merrily, in the Renaissance style, and a section of spirituals to include Let Me Ride(Swing Down Chariot), Down By the Riverside, soloist, Aubrey Isenhower from Quinton; Angels Watchin’ Over Me, soloist Felicia Parker from Eufaula, Shut De Do, and I Know We’ll Meet Again.

The Sound Sensations will perform a medley entitled “The Very Best of the Beach Boys,” choreographed by Laura Myers, Wilburton Freshman.

“On behalf of the Eastern Music Department, I wish to extend this special invitation to everyone in our area to join us in this evening of entertainment by our student musicians.  Come and support our students as they present what they’ve worked so diligently to produce for you,” Director Paul Enis said.

Student participants are:  Jennifer Roberts from Coweta; Tiffany Clendending and Felicia Parker, Eufaula; Jennifer Clanton, Glenpool; Aubrey Isenhower, Quinton; Kathleen Wilson, Red Oak; Boomer Lowrie, Smithville; Emily Enis, LaDonna Enis, Cord Forwoodson, Josh Kelly, Joey Kennedy, Joseph Laudero, Laura Myers, Jennifer Pearson, Joseph Shaffer, and Matt Steele all of Wilburton; with Valerie Williams, Yale.

 The Choir and Sound Sensations are co-directed by Paul Enis and Mary Ford with Ford accompanying and Enis conducting.  Alum guest Ryan Enis will be sound engineer for the evening.

                            “We take this opportunity to extend a special invitation to the citizens of Wilburton and all surrounding communities to come and join us.  As always, admission is free,” Enis said.
