WILBURTON, OK (Jan. 27, 2012) – Eastern Oklahoma State College has earned a No. 18 ranking in the 2012 NJCAA Division I baseball preseason national poll released this week.

“We’re extremely excited about this team,” said first-year head coach Craig Price. “It's a very talented group, particularly on the mound. We should have one of the deepest pitching staffs in the country. Coach Dixon, our pitching coach, has done a tremendous job with those guys in his first year. Offensively we don't have much experience back from last year, but we should make up for it with our depth and athleticism.”

Of the 28-member roster, nine players return to the team this year. The Mountaineers finished 38-22 last season and won the Region II Championship.

Price is in his first year as head coach of the Mountaineers. He previously spent four seasons as the assistant coach and recruiting coordinator.

Eastern is the only Oklahoma college in the preseason NJCAA top 20 poll. Central Arizona College is ranked No. 1. The Mountaineers were also ranked No. 21 in the Perfect Game USA preseason poll.

Eastern’s opening baseball game of the season is Saturday, Jan. 28 against Texarkana College in Texarkana. The Mountaineers' first home game is set for Saturday, Feb. 4 at noon in Wilburton.
