Choctaw storyteller to visit Latimer County

WILBURTON, OK (Jan. 30, 2012) – The Eastern Honors Program and the Latimer County Arts Council are co-sponsoring popular Choctaw storyteller Tim Tingle Feb. 7 at 7 p.m. in the ballroom of the Student Center on the Wilburton campus.
Tingle is a familiar face to many who are interested in Choctaw culture having been featured at the Labor Day Choctaw Festival many times. Tingle is also the author of “Walking the Choctaw Road” which was named the Best Short Story Anthology by Storytelling Magazine in 2003.
Tingle will be a guest speaker in high school Oklahoma history classes during his stay in Latimer County and will introduce the historical and cultural section for the Eastern Honors seminar titled “Choctaw Nation: Influences Then and Now.”
