Eastern Receives New President

Dr. Rollin D. Reimer from Stillwater was selected to succeed retiring Dr. Bill H. Hill as president of Eastern Oklahoma State College during a special regents meeting Monday, May 19, on the Wilburton campus.

Reimer will take the position as Eastern president July 1.

Dr. ReimerHis background is in education and state government. He currently works with State Auditor and Inspector Clifton Scott in Oklahoma City where he serves as a community and economic development specialist. He coordinates the Rural Economic Action Plan for the State Auditor and Inspector. The program is an annual fifteen million dollar economic development program for small towns, funded by the state.

Reimer also serves as co-administrator of an economic development program funded by the Economic Development Administration, U.S. Department of Commerce, to encourage economic development and strengthen working relationships between state and local governments in cities, towns and counties.

He has a long-standing relationship with government throughout the years including a 1978-86 term in the state legislature. He served as Chairman of the following committees: House Subcommittee on Appropriations and Budget; Subcommittee of the House and Senate General Conference on Appropriations and Budget; Joint House and Senate Ethics and Rules. He Served as Vice Chairman of County Government Committee and as a member of Education Public Health, Oil and Gas and Agriculture Committees.

He was also owner and publisher of the Cheyenne Star and Leedey Star Newspapers during 1975-86.

Reimer has been an instructor in state government and biology (1981) at Bacone College and a Principal at Crawford (1976-78) and Science teacher in Cheyenne (1975-76) as well as serving as a research scientist and assistant professor at Texas A&M University, College Station, TX, (1968-75).

More recently, Reimer served as Assistant Vice President for Academic Affairs and Director of the Division of Educational Outreach at Cameron University, Lawton, (1986-88) and Vice President for Administrative Affairs at the University of Science and Arts of Oklahoma, Chickasha (1988-95).

He received his PhD. In Zoology from Tulane University, New Orleans, in 1969; M.S. in Biology from the University of Arkansas, Fayetteville, AK (1964); B.S. in Education from Southwestern State University, Weatherford, (1961) and is a 1957 graduate of Cheyenne High School, Cheyenne.
