For those students not interested in joining a particular club, there are a wide variety of other activities on campus including dances, pool tournaments, athletic events, plays and music productions. Eastern offers a wide variety of activities to attend or
participate in. A few of our Special events offered throughout the year include:
Homecoming Week: This week is packed full of special activities to welcome our Eastern Alumni back to campus. Events include: Scavenger Hunt, Nerd Night, and Skit Night. The final day includes a home basketball game where the new Homecoming Queen and King are crowned. Afterwards, students and alumni enjoy themselves at the Alumni Banquet and Homecoming Dance. Candlelighting: The Candlelighting ceremony has become a Christmas tradition at Eastern. A special presentation given by the music department offers new inspiration and holiday cheer to students during the Christmas Season. Awards Assembly: Outstanding students in all areas of college life are recognized on this special day in May. Division awards, as well as scholarship awards, Who's Who Certificates, "E" Awards and "H" Awards are given. Athletic Events: These provide campus-wide excitement and interest as Eastern's teams compete in the Oklahoma Bi-State Conference in men and women's basketball, men's baseball, and women's softball, with half-time entertainment from our National Award winning Cheerleading and Pom & Dance Squads. Get caught up in the Mountaineer Fever! Drama Department: Theatre' Eastern provide numerous performances during the Fall & Spring semesters. A musical each spring in cooperation with the Music Department; a children's show; a participating entry in the American College Theatre' Festival; and a comedy for the community. The Drama Departments encourages all students to participate or attend. Come share the excitement! Music: Students can participate or attend the many performances given throughout the year by the Music Department. Vocal and instrumental musical groups including a jazz/pep band, a concert choir group and the vocal ensemble group - "Sound Sensations". Get Physical ... Packing six and need to stay that way? Or..... hysterical laughter when you announce your the "lean, mean, muscle machine". Whichever the case, physical exercise is the answer. Eastern's Gene Stipe Center and Field House offer everything you need to keep those "rippling six packs in tact"!
Let me out of here! Cabin fever made you crazy? Ready to strangle that room-mate of yours? Get out of that dorm room and enjoy some of Eastern's out-door activities. Our extensive Intramural programs include: softball, flag football, volleyball, water olympics and basketball. Check the weekly Intramural calendar for current activities. Some of our out-door facilities include:
Hike up the mountains behind the campus or snowboard down them in the winter. Robbers Cave, located at Lake Carlton, offers other activities such as: hiking, horseback riding, bike riding, canoe/boat rides and rock climbing. You
have to stop studying sometime..... and when you do, there are plenty
of activities and campus organizations to keep you busy. College is the
perfect time to meet new people, develop your talents and experience new
things. Eastern's students can go on trips to Europe, tour with a musical
group, learn photography or polish their business skills, all by participating
in Eastern's many campus groups. Our nationally ranked agriculture judging
teams travel all over the U.S. to compete in livestock, crops, meats judging
and agronomy judging contests. Our award winning student publications
teach hands-on publishing experience as well as compete on state, regional
and national levels. 
Orientation Week: What a great way to start your first week at
Eastern! Numerous activities all week long help you become familiar with
our campus and surrounding area. Movies, cookouts, dances, kayaking,
paddle boating, pool party, river float trip down the Illinois River
and much more! It's our way of saying...."Welcome to Eastern"
