STUDENT SERVICES Student Apartments Married and single-parent students have the option of living in a 1 or 2 bedroom apartment. Application for married student housing should be made through the STUDENT SERVICES OFFICE. A deposit is required.
General Information about Student Apartments: 1. No person under the age of 21 is permitted to live off-campus unless they are living with a known relative. 2. No person under the age of 21 will be permitted to live in a student apartment unless they present extenuating circumstances to the Dean of Students office for evaluation. 3. No parties or group entertainment of any kind is permitted where alcohol or drugs are being consumed. 4. Periodic apartment checks will be conducted and no one is permitted to live in an apartment that is not included in the original lease. Student renters are encouraged to keep their apartments clean and tidy for the purpose of appropriate hygiene and to avoid extermination costs. 5. There are no visitation rules however quiet hours at 11 pm are expected to be observed by all residents. No one who is a fugitive from the law is permitted to be harbored in a student apartment and could be grounds for eviction. 1. Who can live in the student apartments? Full-time (12 hours in the Fall and Spring semesters) students over the age of 21 who are married or who are parents of children who live with them may be able to rent a student apartment if one is available. Students do NOT have to be married but may be over the age of 21, living single and live in an apartment when is seems inappropriate for them to live in a group dorm living situation. International Students the exception to this rule. Each case will be considered individually. 2. What is the cost? Eastern offers 1 bedroom and 2 bedroom apartments. :: GO TO COST--> 3. What does this include? This rental price includes all utilities plus cable and in some cases wireless internet but no furniture. General appliances in the kitchen are included. Microwaves will have to be brought in by the student. Telephone service is available from Southwestern Bell Telephone Service: 1-800-464-7928. 4. Can I live there during the summer months? Students may NOT live in a student apartment over the summer unless they meet the general criteria (over the age of 21, married, or living with children) and they are registered to attend classes at a minimum of 6 hours for the summer months. 5. What are the rules about drugs and alcohol? As with all areas of campus, NO alcohol or drugs of any kind unless prescribed by a physician and being taken within the parameters of that prescription can be used on this campus. Even if a student is over the age of 21 they are NOT permitted to use alcohol in their student apartment. 6. What about smoking? Renters are permitted to smoke cigarettes in their student apartment but are encouraged to smoke outside and to extinguish their smoking materials in the appropriate manner.
