Under the leadership of Department Chairperson, Katharyn A. Couch, and with the assistance of COP Director, Blaine Villines, the Criminal Justice Department is one of the largest departments on Eastern’s campus with outreach programs in McAlester and Idabell. The department offers two Associate of Science major options: Criminal Justice and Collegiate Officer Program (COP). The criminal justice major prepares its students with a foundation in corrections, criminology, forensics, or law. Graduates from this major will transfer to a four year university and continue their studies in criminal justice. The COP option is accredited by the Council on Law Enforcement Education and Training (CLEET). The COP graduate is qualified to take the State exam for police officer certification and is then job ready. The Criminal Justice Department is a growing, exciting place to begin your academic journey.
